Normal communications are the key to American assimilation. Is assimilation necessary?? No, not for survival, but it is necessary for upward economic mobility. It's an individuals choice and most importantly it's a parents choice to prepare there children for the world they live in; or not!!!

Oh that's amusing. I take it you've gone door-to-door and done a survey in these neighborhoods to find out how many think of themselves as victims and think of white people as evil.

Here's another case where someone is whining about black people making generalizations about white people while they're making a generalization about black people! Wow, you just don't get it, do you? How educated are you, pp? Because you're not seeming very educated right this minute! And you know what, this is on you, not on white people. It's just you who have this flawed thinking pattern.

BTW, I live in one of those neighborhoods and I haven't had any black people call me evil in the last 10 years. In fact, many of them say hi to me on the street and are quite friendly. Also, many of the people in that neighborhood are stuck there. They can't afford to go anywhere else. I'm sure they'd love to move to Dupont Circle or Georgetown though if they could.

Earlier PP here. I am not sure where you ended up with this, but I will try my best to respond. In your first paragraph. I am AA and no cursing or use of the N word is allowed in my home. I grew up in a blue collar home where education was stressed and bad behavior got you punished. I do not allow my kids to think of themselves as victims either. They are far from it...they attend private school, get good grades, are popular and want for nothing. I live in a neighborhood that is racially diverse (Whites are the minority) and is primarily professionals. See, I have just debunked most people's sterotypes about AA. LOL And is it fair to lump me in with people with whom I do not share experiences. Is is fair for me to lump you in with White supremacists in Idaho? If I see someone flying Stars and Bars, I judge THAT person, not all Whites. If I said that Whites could help race relations by not flying the Stars and Bars, most of you would say that is not a reflection on you because you don't do it. Why don't I get the same?

I agree we should prepare our kids. I am preparing my kids to live in a diverse, multicultural world. Stay true to yourself but respect those different from you. Why is there so much angst and fear among White people (conservatives) about multiculturalism? It is because, historically, the standard of assimilation was a White standard.
