There's no restrictions on time of day for biking.
Bicyclists can ride on any roads except highways - you'll notice there are generally posted signs saying so.
There is no limit to how many people can ride in a group (freedom of assembly?) but some places have restrictions on how many can ride abreast.

Some police have windshield-perspective, like some of the drivers in this thread, and may harass bicyclists who are following the law.

DP. It is wrong for a biker to try to pass on the right. The biker needs to slow down and take his/her turn behind the car. If the biker moves to the left then s/he has made a bad choice, not the car driver.

+1 This is why bikers need licenses and police need to be able to write them tickets. Too many of them want to obey the law only when it is convenient for them; otherwise, they want to blow through stop signs, weave through cars sitting at lights, and basically run amok.

I have no sympathy for any of the bikers when they fail to follow the rules of the road and then have a problem. When I read about biker accidents usually it is the biker's fault although the biker community tries to act like it wasn't. When I start seeing more law-abiding behaviors by bikers then I'll be more concerned.

dp We all know there are plenty of drivers who also don't follow the rules of the road but, the difference is they can do much greater damage. The path is a multi-purpose path and not a bike path solely. If everyone would take a deep breath and relax we can all get to where we need to be safely.

Bikers on the road create unsafe driving conditions. Period. If cars are making it unsafe for you to bike, bike elsewhere. Then we can all get to where we need to (like work) safely. If there are no safe routes for bikers they can take metro as well as one previous poster suggested. Drivers do not want to take part in your death wish.

Overtaking cars in those instances frustrates drivers, resulting in the PP's behavior. And again, it is usually done because the cyclist wants to run a stop sign or red light.

I don't agree with PP "risking their lives, F them" comment, but cyclists who overtake vehicles at every f-ing stop sign and light, creating a situation where the driver has to try to pass them over and over again, is ridiculously frustrating and completely unnecessary.

It’s only frustrating because you don’t want to drive at a safe speed and are taking out your frustrations on the biker. It’s not the biker’s fault that you are stuck behind cars every block while the bike lane is clear!

DP: That isn't true. The only way a biker passes a car is when the biker disobeys traffic laws. This forces the same car to pass the same bike over and over again because the biker is not obeying the traffic laws of the road they chose to ride on.

AYFKM? Of course it's frustrating when I have to go 15 miles below the speed limit because I can't pass you when it's unsafe to do so!!!! Once I pass you that should be it!!!!! A safe speed??? Bikers have no regard for safety not even their own. And yes because of the large amount of these indifferent individuals drivers are frustrated!

And the ironic part is that they don't use the paths because it's slows them down. Stop telling us you care about safety. You don't even care about your own safety so of course you could care less about others. I saw a biker almost mow down a ped walking in the cross walk the other day. Blows my mind. Entitledx1000. i know it's fun for you to ride your bike but sometimes we have to think about others.
