I actually think this would have worked better if they were eithet more daring with it or instead shaded the bodice differently. It gives the suggestion of exposure but isn't exposed at all. The nipples on the bodice remind me of nipples on the batsuit. What are they trying to convey with this? |
To me it comes off like she's wearing a fat suit, I'm not going to applaud her for that. Aside from the padding, I also think it's weird that Heidi treated this like one of her Halloween costumes and just tried to make it look as convincingly like the original as possible. Usually at the Met Ball, designers create looks that are inspired by the theme but aren't straight up costumes. This like like fine art cosplay and is a lot less interesting to me than some of the dresses that reference or evoke a specific work of art but arent' just straight reproductions. |
I think Claire Foy in Erdem and Julianne Moore in Bottega Veneta did better jobs of interpreting the Madame X portrait than Lauren Sanchez in her dress. These both evoke the actual mood of the painting, where there's this tension between the seductive way the subject has been painted and this effort to adhere to social conventions at the same time. Sanchez just looks like she tacked some giant bejeweled straps on one of her typical dresses and then pulled one down to "reference" the painting.

Yep, these are better interpretations, especially the top photo. And I like Heidi's look too, extreme costumes are her thing. |
I want to love it but I don’t understand the fitting on the bodice where the boobs are pushed down and smashed up like she’s getting a mammogram. That’s a very popular look lately so I guess it’s intentional, but I don’t get it. |
I don't like that either- it looks like it doesn't fit, but surely it must be intentional? |
I know they think they are being witty but it’s not well executed and also isn’t that witty a comment anyway. Also, I am irritated by Sarah Paulson with her dollar bill. If she wanted to protest the stupid Bezoses, fine, stay home. Or do something really bold like the tax the rich dress. This is like she wants to go to the fancy party but also pretend like she’s a social progressive. After all the talk about boycotting due to the Bezos, did anyone actually decline the invite? |
Zendaya didn't comment but her absence was a bit notable. |
She looks great except for mermaid hair. Absurd. |
Sex. Doesn't know how to be classy. |
Trying to be witty, but none of these ladies would be famous if it weren’t for Kim’s sex tape. So yes, KJ women, your success is based off of the female body. Perhaps with the exception of Kendall, who is a natural beauty and tall, so could’ve made it in modeling without the sex tape. |
She may as well go topless. |
Ben Platt is so ugly. |
Nepo babies don't even have to try |
