I think eventually you’re going to see a lot more pools banning them as outside the dress code, just like wearing non swimsuit clothes like jorts or regular tees isn’t allowed in the pool.

It IS kind of gross.

I think most of of us could agree they wouldn't want old men dragging their flabby hairy asses around the pool chairs and pool steps.

Yeah, I'm thinking mostly about the chairs.
I was surprised that even the lifeguard suits are way cheekier than in the past.

Butt sweat soaked chairs with sweat and bacteria growing for the next wet butt cheek sitter IS gross. Infection city. Bring the UV bodily fluids light

Wouldn't the wedgies be worse?
And wouldn't cheeks create more drag than if they're compressed?

Now your butt cheeks can hold the ball. Pinch it and go!

I think this often gets lost in these conversations. Wearing suits like this at the neighborhood pool is disrespectful to other people. It just is.

Cue the “well don’t look!” idiots who think they’re convincing anyone they’re just wearing this god awful nonsense fOr ThEmSeLvEs and not because they WANT attention from boys/men they find attractive, they WANT to make other women/girls jealous, and they WANT to make the not-good-enough guys as uncomfortable as possible. It’s just a power trip, honestly.

I want to see your perspective but I’m at the pool all summer long and it just doesn’t bother me at all. I see everything on moms from teeny bikinis to full length rash guards and it just is all fine? I just don’t see why/how it makes you feel all these things.

Are you aware of theory of mind? You are not everyone. Things that don’t bother you will bother other people. Things that don’t bother other people will bother you. A modicum of decency and respect for others in our shared spaces goes a long way.

What you think is decent is not what other people think is decent. Why do we need to adhere to YOUR version?

DP. There are common standards for appropriate and inappropriate wear. Teens like to push the boundaries of acceptable. Some parents do not permit this. Other parents have decided that their children know the right thing to do without ever being told no and allow their children to wear anything, or nothing at all.

Clearly not. It’s not just young girls wearing these, many women, of all ages are wearing these. So it seems like what is acceptable, appropriate and what they want to wear is not acceptable to you. If you want to control your own clothing and child that’s fine, but everyone else does not need to follow your standards. Just as you would not don a burkini because a Muslim told you that your swim suit was too ‘slutty’.
