is it just me or is anyone else getting a bit worried at the direction this campaign is going? I keep waiting for the kill shot on Trump and it doesn't seem to be coming. |

Here we go. Laying the groundwork of excuses for Trump to bail. Bannon knows Trump can’t perform. All the sycophants are going to play Trump’s tiny violin tune of IT’S NOT FAIR. Trump is such a weak loser. |
I have a single Dem friend, who believes this. Everyone else (and by everyone else, I mean ALL my other Dems friends) believes Biden is a poor choice and will lose. We're all 50-60 yo. |
She is polling at 20% against Trump. Why would you do that when Biden is hovering at 48%? |
Please do a search for the thread that talks about replacing Biden. It was from the spring. It has TONS of polling data that show, right now, no single Dem comes close to Trump. Biden is the closest. Like it or not, he is our best hope, like he was in 2020. It is what it is. |
The problem is that you are thinking in pre-Trump era days. There have been many kill shots. The MAGA don't care. They deny that any of these are true and that any of them are problems and they just keep pushing for their corrupt, criminal candidate to be the only solution to our problems. The problem is that Trump has collected a number of pressing Conservative issues under his umbrella including ones that previously had been ignored and so he now has those extra supporters under his wing. He has shown that he believes in two tiered bigotry a la the 1950's whereby white males have an extra level of privilege. He has shown that he approves of violence to intimidate and progress his platform. So the white males that are bullies who have been ostracized for decades now feel empowered by him. People like the Proud Boys, the Oathkeepers, and many others, had previously written off voting and dealing in politics. Unite the Right and other white supremacists and neo-Nazis had been outcast and did not participate in politics. But since 2016, they have been empowered and heard because Trump continually uses vague signalling to them. You wonder where so many new voters popped out of the woodwork for Trump in 2020? These are the types that have flocked to the MAGA banners. And because he is the only politician to have ever given them any heed, they are devoted to him like lemmings and will willingly jump off the cliff for him. There are also ultra-Conservative evangelical Christians, and the violent gun advocates and many other fringe groups. He has survived politically by gathering all the political outcasts under his banner and they are so devoted to him because no one else would ever include them, so they have to support him. So, his supporters don't care that he been convicted of a felony or that a civil court has said that he is a guilty rapist. They don't care that he's made the US the laughing stock of the first world and that he associates with dictators and authoritarians. They don't care that he is a serial liar, cheater, adulterer, and that he violates so many Christian doctrines as to have his own circle of H*ll just for him and his followers. No one else would ever have these political outcasts, so they come out for him and will follow him right over the cliff. When Trump is finally out of politics, it's a good bet that a significant number of the political outcasts will drop out of politics again unless there is someone other political lunatic who will embrace those fringe groups. But, so far, even among the Freedom Caucus, there doesn't seem to be anyone who is as skilled as Trump at vague signalling to the groups that he agrees and supports them, while couching it in terms that he can publicly deny haveing shown said agreement and support. It takes a real talent to be so boldly two-faced and credible to both the fringe and the media. |
The right wants Biden replaced so trump has a chance. Biden beat Trump already. Of course the right wants Biden replaced. It is yet another hollow right wing talking point. |
The Proud Boys, Oathkeepers etc as well as the Evangelicals, all voted for Trump in 2020 and 2016...they are not NEW voters for him. |
So that’s why Trump will do terribly? Noted. |
Then why, after the GOP pulled out of the presidential commission on debates a few years ago, did Trump agree to this? |
Because they can't do an accurate poll with a maybe candidate. She'd win MI, which Biden won't. He's one point ahead of Trump. Sorry, that's not a gamble I'm willing to take. Look at how wrong the polls were in 2016. Put any < 55 on the ballot either side and they win. I'd bet everything I own on it. |
Is trump really going to show? Is there no person that can get through to him that he should offer up some pathetic excuse and then not show up? |
Same reasons anyone agrees to a debate. Biden challenged him and he accepted. He wants to do it. He doesn’t need to do it. Biden needs to show all the naysayers that he is capable of being president after what Hur said about him. |
Because the GOP doesn’t control Trump. Trump controls Trump. |
