How are you so sure there wasn't a threat? Even now, we don't know for sure but we definitely didn't know that in the moment yesterday.
The letter made it seem like there was a lot unknown. What if there was another student with a gun? Yes that could be true any day but yesterday it seemed more likely there was another student at the school who could have been armed. Usually these guns come to school because of a conflict between two or more people.

I'm mad the kids weren't told what was going on. They could have helped keep an eye out.

Mooney is stuck. I'm not sure what his job is. It appears MCPS insists on handling all the communication and letting Mooney take the fall if it doesn't go well.

Yes they will not give info to stakeholders but they will to media as that communications office did Monday.

No lockdown this time. However, there was a plan years ago to evaluate communications during a prolonged lockdown. Where can families find the evaluation? In that bogus weekly things-to-know newsletter????

Why wasn't there a lockdown in this incident? Because student with firearm left building? Because MCPS didn't want the world to know the same school in a "premier" school district had another emergency? Students can leave campus. Why didn't they call a shelter in-place so that no one inside leaves building? Makes people think incident itself is a rumor. If MCPS does not clear up, families will sue. There is already talk of it.

Did they want adults to vote for BOE candidates who support reinstating SROs? ALL principals want SROs. The administrative staff are playing security in these high schools. That is wrong. One CEO is not enough.

Did you complete the MCPS survey to give feedback about remind app? The survey came out ironically after the BCC letter was posted to this thread.

I haven't but will. The idiotic PTSA messages all come into my inbox, even though most of them are ridiculous. (Really, you think that banning phones in schools will prevent weapons?? How delightfully quaint!) Meanwhile I have to hunt for official communications from the school or MCPS on an app I rarely utilize.

I'd rather the messages from parents with more time than sense go to an app, and have the messages from school leadership show up in my inbox.

And btw, for the white PTSA president to dismiss parental concerns about weapons in school as "privilege" is beyond cringe.

It's not that I don't get it. But sending MCPS and MCPD the questions directly puts pressure on them to respond. Posting here on DCUM does nothing to them.

I didn't say that because I think MCPS/MCPD are transparent and responsive. I said that because continuously questioning and confronting them is how we'll eventually get answers.

How do you know "y'all" haven't repeatedly been asking district and p unit questions, and have not received answers? This is a forum, you know, to discuss and ask questions.
