I don’t think it’s necessarily all fandom. I would say I’m a mild fan in that I know and like some of her songs, but haven’t bothered to listen to the new album or apparently albums yet and I likely won’t get to it for a while. But it is wild the bitterness and misogyny that comes out on these threads. It’s not just Taylor, it’s any female celeb. Truly wild. Its always the same pattern… It’s never their success, it’s always someone else. They always destroy some poor man who deserves better, and ultimately they are a failure if they don’t have children on a prescribed timeline. Oh and inevitably they are aging poorly and their eggs have dried up. |
Exactly. And then the Swifties/casual fans/anyone who says something remotely nice about Taylor get chewed out for posting in hate threads. Here’s a neutral thread about her new albums and they descend fast to trash her, many who clearly have no plans to even listen to the albums in question. |
Taylor 14 when she started and now 33. So the teens when she started would be about her age now. And the teens of today are jumping on the bandwagon. Some say her music sounds the same, maybe so, but that’s why both adults and teens buy her albums. Compare Adele’s album of Hello to her latest and I probably won’t buy another one of her albums. Too far from the sound I like and expected. |
This review was before the Anthology drop. I think this album was for Taylor as much as it was for her listeners, so I don't begrudge her 31 songs. She probably left many more on the table. |
Well, clearly poor Taylor needs the money. Hilarious after she calls her fans Vipers (Don’t worry, it wasn’t YOU, it was all the OTHER fans), that they will still pay for both albums and LOVE LOVE LOVE her. She clearly doesn’t love them as much as they worship her. |
Why is Taylor Seift writing a song about Kim Kardashian? Short-sighted to drag out mess from 8 years ago. Psst, Taylor, you won already. It feels beneath her, childish, like a slam book. |
It’s always fun listening to her new albums bc they are such cultural phenomenons. I don’t care for these songs generally aside from a few Anthology ones. The KIM one is just stupid revenge and juvenile. |
Reputation is my first TS love and i cannot wait for taylor’s version. Folklore is my absolute perfect album. I’m loving the anthology songs. |
I found this to be her funniest album. I actually laughed out loud at some of the lyrics.

I agree with this. trashing ex boyfriends was cute when she was college aged and established older actors like Jake gylenhaal and John Mayer were taking gross advantage of a 20 year old, but now it’s 15 years later and she’s still doing the same shtick of very clearly airing dirty laundry and throwing her ex boyfriends - some of whom were serious relationships - under the bus. Doing this every six months in her mid thirties strikes me as juvenile and emotionally stunted. It’s like she’s addicted to the break ups/relationships for the content and I think it’s super weird. |
I think you underestimate the damage the whole thing did to her psyche and the trauma it caused. I can somewhat relate but in a different way. It changed her forever. As she posted last night, "This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted. This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it." |
Pretty Convenient. “I’m going to drop these terrible insults on these people and then refuse to talk about it because this period of the authors life is over! I’m free of it!” |
To out someone for what? Also she did once say it's me, hi, I'm the problem it's me. Not to mention the TTPD album notes in which she said much of this was self-inflicted. |
As a Swiftie, I must say this album is a let down. Most of it sounds the same and there isn’t a single catchy song! |
These people will be fine. |
