How not to feel bad when other families go on a trip every break

I can tell you my 7th grader does not value travel at all. He also doesn’t care about fashion either.

I have a friend who often doesn’t travel for breaks but her same age daughter values both fashion and travel. She dresses cute and hangs out with the cool kids at her private.

My kids attend public in an affluent neighborhood. I would say most families travel for winter, spring and summer. No one keeps tabs on where and I certainly don’t think kids know or care about how much the trip costs. We just spent tens of thousands of dollars to go to Asia and my 7th grader was complaining the whole time. I think 13 year olds just complain a lot whether it is about wanting AirPods or a Stanley cup or uggs or a long flight or why they can’t go away to ski or the Caribbean. My 13yo complains when we ask him to take out the trash or do his homework too.

There is probably something to this. My 16 year old is better, but still does it to an extent.
