Dp-this thread is getting off topic, but yes, India has had (not sure if it’s still) a huge problem with women getting attacked by groups of men, often for doing things like, walking to the grocery, or riding pubic transport. It was prominently in our news cycle for a while.

The problem is she and the rest of the GOP have been stewing in a hermetically sealed right wing media bubble. They have lost perspective, and have lost touch. I don’t think they are aware of how off the mark they are. They don’t even understand the logical consequences of the legislation they’ve been pushing for the last 40 years. Like personhood at conception.
Don’t get me wrong, democrats have some bone headed ideas too, but at least they are typically “new” ideas, and they tend to be open to course correction, like with “defund the police”.
The sad thing here is that the republicans will learn the wrong lesson here.

What is “our” news cycle? Just because western media publishes bullshit does not make India on the whole unsafe for women. India, like US has some unsafe places and some pretty safe places. Please educate yourself if you want to talk about another country beyond clickbait news articles.

Because the GOP is getting crushed by middle class surburban women upset by the overturning Roe, the bounty bill in TX, and now the IVF restrictions. They thought that by putting up a white Christian mom, they could staunch the hemorrhaging of support among suburban moms.

Unfortunately, Katie Britt just signifies how shallow their bench is. Bringing out the Senator from Alabama just reminds everyone of their lunatic Supreme Court outlawing IVF. Ideally, you’d have working mom Senator or House Rep from a swing state giving the rebuttal. But the GOP delegation is really just a bunch of old white men and a handful of older women. They don’t have a deep bench that is representative of the U.S.

And in the TikTok he talks about how Britt gave the impression that she was talking with a victim personally about things that had happened to her in the US recently. He shows the forum Britt was at with other conservatives (Blackburn was one of them) when this story was told to them.

She needs to apologize for exploiting this woman and all survivors of sexual abuse. I guess the good thing that came out of this is she's done. Oh, she'll remain a Senator in Alabama but she won't ever be VP or President.
