I'm in favor of all of the above. Avoid war via deterrence. Expand our power and control. Ensure future security by advancing weapons/defense tech. |
Wow such a fine understanding of politics DP |
You sound like those nutcases that say only more guns in the hands of teachers will solve the problem of school shootings in America |
Another naive assumption Russians don’t trust “the opposition” as they’ve been burnt in the 90s by the liberal reforms Watch the Trauma Zone documentary (it’s BBC so isn’t Russian propaganda or anything) and see for yourself |
DP it’s ussr And there was no “war” Competing for influence maybe |
lol how does anyone in Israel think they have the right to denounce neo-Nazis? I bet this guy is fully supportive of the Israeli genocide of Palestinians. He lives in a state that only exist based on the use of tactics taken from the Nazis and apartheid. Hoe delusional can some be? |
The late Elizabeth Edwards may have something to say about that. Remember John Edwards ? |
A good summary of the geopolitical pressures leading to this funding bill: https://bigserge.substack.com/p/the-age-of-zugzwang
"And so America faces Zugzwang in Ukraine. It can choose to go all-in, but this means both selling a disruptive breakneck rearmament to the American public in peacetime, *and* gambling on a faltering piece in Kiev (which is now facing a command shakeup and yet another shattered defensive stronghold in Avdiivka). Strategic retreat in the form of abandoning Kiev may make the most sense from a pure cost-benefit perspective, but there are undoubtedly prestige factors at play. Walking away from Ukraine entirely and simply leaving it to be steamrolled would be seen, and rightfully so, as a Russian strategic victory over the United States. That leaves the third door, which is the sort of drip feed of aid that maintains the perception of American support for Ukraine, but offers no real prospect of Ukrainian victory. This is a cynical play, which props the Ukrainians upright for a slower death for which they themselves can be held accountable - “we never abandoned Ukraine, they lost.”" This bill is a fight between retreat and cynicism. |
Yeah. He was a slime ball too. I was thinking of Newt Gingrich, family man. |
Who/what is Big Serge? |
Ensure future security by producing more guns for more wars . The guns get trafficked and sold in the black market to our enemies. This is a reasonable investment compared to investing in our own American middle class, retiring baby boomers or in education? You know, our future . Migrants and Ukraine are more important |
Russia can't support right-wing authoritarianism in 2024 because its soldiers liberated concentration camps 80 years ago on its way to retaliating against Hitler for stabbing them in the back after the Poland deal is a new argument. |
It is a new argument that you created. Nobody said anti Semitism doesn’t exist in Russia or that they’re anti Nazism/communism in the past means they’re good today. To the contrary; I am saying Ukraine might be full of bad actors precisely because there are many there that are pro Russia. Many Ukrainians in Eastern Ukraine where the war is going on have sympathies or loyalties with Putin or Nazis and not necessarily Zelensky . Zelensky is the money train because his army gets all the great shiny armor and toys from the Americans so people that like Putin and or dislike Jews will still deal with him. If This is a bombshell or something out of the realm of possibility for you, consider Afghanistan . We armed all the mullahs and Hamid Karzai, our supposed leader and bright light of democracy, all to realize many locals had sympathy with the Taliban and secretly supported them. We should just flush our money down the toilet because that’s where these expensive arms essentially go. We should invest in our country more and bad actors that we do not understand less |
That is your opinion but it is not based in reality. The reality is 180 degrees from your views of Ukraine. It’s like you have idea what is going on. |
