The fact that he's not MAGA means absolutely nothing when it comes to actual governance. "Never Trumpers" still vote the GOP party line 90%+. They still support taking away women's rights, taking away worker's rights, taking away healthcare, taking away social safety nets, and all the other horrible things the GOP loves. Literally the only difference is they keep the quiet part quiet instead of saying it out loud. |
County with multiple decades long history of documented, systemic corruption that is still prevalent = racist narrative. |
That's every county in Maryland, dude. So why focus on just this one? |
Okay, name another county in Maryland that has had elected officials got to prison for corruption every decade since the 70s. I’ll wait. |
I'm not saying I agree with corruption, but if the Trump administration can funnel $$$ to his resorts by way of forcing meetings at his hotels which the government pays for all of the rooms etc, then this is nothing. |
You are one state off - VA is actually more corrupt than MD. ![]() |
If that's the issue, he's not going to be facing one in November either most likely. |
Yeah, I don't think of Maryland being a particularly corrupt state - excepting Baltimore and apparently PG (I don't know, but imprisoning county employees each decade for corruption sounds pretty bad). |
On the contrary. Trone and Alsobrooks will both be competent opponents. |
There’s been a lot. These are the ones I’m most familiar with. Jesse Bagget, County Exec, convicted 1972 Anthony Cicoria, County Council, convicted 1990 Jack Johnson, County Exec, convicted 2011 Will Campos, Delegate and County Council, convicted 2017 Tawanna Gaines, Delegate, convicted 2020 And this only elected officials. This doesn’t include civil servants that have been convicted of corruption including police officers, liquor board, PGCPS, etc. The levels of corruption in PG are disturbing and it’s even more disturbing that people will yell “racism” as a distraction. |
NP, you need to get out of the 20th century into the 21st century. Both Rushern Baker and Angela Alsobrooks have changed the pay-to-play culture of the county and have turned the county around. As a resident of PG county for over 30 years, I can say that the county has improved significantly since those two took office. Your information is way out of date and it is not "still prevalent" |
Hogan still leads in the polls.
Hogan 53% - Trone 40% Hogan 54% - Alsobrooks 36% Trone 48% - Alsobrooks 29% (likely voters) Trone 60% - Alsobrooks 27% (seniors) https://www.baltimoresun.com/2024/04/16/poll-trone-alsobrooks-senate-hogan/ |
14 police officers were indicted in 2022. The last elected official was convicted in 2020. I guess you’re of the TikTok generation that thinks anything older than last week is old news. |
I don’t think so. They are both lightweights. |
*shrug* Think what you like. |
