A 12-year-old girl at Lakelands Park Middle School was reportedly assaulted and suffered serious injuries during a physical altercation on Wednesday afternoon.

The student was transported to Fairfax Inova Pediatrics Trauma Unit for emergency medical care.

So YES, taken OUT OF STATE to a high level peds trauma unit.

Not sure why you're emphasizing the "out of state." The closest options to a real ER are out of state.

I’m not that poster but I’m pretty sure both suburban and Adventist are closer that Fairfax innova to lakelands and both of them are “real” ERs. That’s where my kids went for head traumas!

No, they're not. Those aren't fully staffed with specialists. Instead, they need to call them in. You don't want to go to either of those in a true emergency- especially Shady Grove.

So the nearest fully staffed ER is Fairfax INOVA and National Children’s hospital? Which is an hour or two away with traffic.

Oh I just saw RN’s posts after the fact—thanks. That’s good to know.

I know a child who was helicoptered to Children's from MD for a head injury after a car accident..and released the next morning with a mild concussion. Hope this child is also lucky like that

I hope so, too.

I hope somebody knows her parents and can tell them to file a police report. The video needs to be pulled and I don’t trust MCPS to keep it archived.

If a parent files a police report, MCPD shouldn’t be able to defer to MCPS if an actual crime was committed. MCPS is not law enforcement and are not qualified to determine if something is a chargeable offense or not. That’s what police and the State’s Attorney are for.

Are the dispatch recordings still available to hear?

Yes, you can listen to archived dispatch calls on openmhz. These have been starred so they should be easy to find.

Thank you. I found it. Number 10 and 24.

Those who are trying to say this was all fake, well there you have it. Just because all main stream media did not pick it up does not mean that it didn't happen.

The parents received a letter and I called the school and spoke to the principal. It’s real. Doubters can go ahead and call themselves.

On a side note, I think it’s so great dcum attracts a lot of smart, caring people, as much as some like to put dcum down.

Shame, Shame on MCPS

Can somebody link to the Nextdoor thread because I cannot find it.

You can report your own post or someone else's post to ask for a correction.

4 days and no news? Does the victims family have no friends? No social media? Afraid of law enforcement?

MCPS’s woke agenda has created an unsafe environment in schools.

And kids are being injured every day; sometimes seriously (as in this case )

If I were the family I'd be screaming about what happened to my child to the news and not letting a single person escape my wrath in MCPS.

If the child is seriously injured that would be the focus of the family at this time.

RJ and not removing violent students > life altering injuries to other students, here, at Magruder, BCC, etc.

Have to train your kids in self defense from a young age. Nobody will be bullying or trying to fight my kids.

Kentlands parents aren't teaching their 12 year old girls to land haymakers

I have no doubt they will be getting an attorney to help them navigate this situation once their daughter hopefully completely recovers.

I don't understand what you are trying to say. Is a Kentlands mom some sort of special mom?
