San Francisco is imploding

All this arguing from posters who probably don't live in SF. Fix problems in your own backyard first.

What that table tells me:
The more money the cops get, the lazier the cops get.

Needs to be fixed.

A 2% raise every year is a 22% raise over ten years. Underpay your police force and see what happens?

Small price to pay for being so progressive.

Then why is San Francisco safer than Alaska? Facts are inconvenient, huh?

When you ignore crime your stats go down. Amazing how that works.

So now your just making sht up to deny reality. Gotcha.

dp.. SFPD doesn't do anything about nonviolent crime so property crime is probably not reported much, and SF has a lot of petty property crime.

However, AK has more violent crime, for sure. From a personal safety perspective, SF is safer than AK.

Actually property crime is still reported by anyone that wants to file an insurance claim. You need a police report. If you don’t want to file an insurance claim or contact the police then how much is that type of crime really costing anyone?

most people aren't filing insurance claims for petty crime.

Also, here's an SF Supervisor who pushed for "defund the police" who is now asking for more police presence as crime ticks up in her area.

DH used to live in SF in the 90s, and I used to go see him a lot from where I lived in SV. Lots of places were gentrifying, which of course, pushed the real estate prices up, which is one of the reasons why there are so many more homeless people in SF and petty theft. The col is ridiculous there, but defunding the police did not help the situation there.

I keep hearing this about all large cities with Democratic mayors. Fox “News” claims all cities are some hellscape… DC included. Lies.

Nothing to see here...

People aren't going to downtown SF. Businesses are closing and people are leaving.

Look how much cell phone usage has dropped since before the pandemic......

Just saw that. Apparently this also includes an extremely popular Nordstrom Rack at one of the malls

Sad, sad. I just don’t understand how people can allow this to happen.

Nordstrom is closing stores everywhere.

But somehow you think 13 Nordstrom stores closing across Canada has something to do with San Francisco.

Sure, I suppose that's about as plausible as Nordstrom stores closing being because of the chemtrails knocking the flat earth off of its axis too...

Weird post about Canada. Nordstrom is opening 5 new stores in CA alone in the next year or so.

The two closing in SF may not be entirely because of looters or crime, but I’m sure there is a relation as other companies have outright stated that. But those conditions do affect the shopping traffic in a general sense.

One of the 5 new Nordstroms is in San Mateo, just down from SF and probably better for shopping.

The Westfield mall and its owner, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, said in a statement that the planned closure "underscores the deteriorating situation in Downtown San Francisco."

"A growing number of retailers and businesses are leaving the area due to the unsafe conditions for customers, retailers, and employees, coupled with the fact that these significant issues are preventing an economic recovery of the area," the statement said.

The mall's owner went on to say that it had expressed serious concerns to city leaders for many years and "urged the city to find solutions to the key issues and lack of enforcement against rampant criminal activity."

Comments like this are a better barometer than any poll.

The party line narrative ain't flying.

Lol Texas is a lot worst vs SF.

Yeah, that's why everyone is fleeing SF and California in general.

B/c it's just so awesome.
