DH (WH) about to be hospitalized for suicide ideation- what do I need to know?

Apparently this is a very old, resurrected post. I just want to say, for anyone reading this and going through similar, if your loved one is not an imminent threat (like, having the means to die immediately) book an emergency appointment for a ketamine infusion. There is no other antidepressant that can work as immediately as that, and it can relieve suicidal symptoms (temporarily) within 24 hours for up to 80% of patients.

This is not a long term solution...that might involve inpatient or intensive outpatient treatment and ongoing medication and lifestyle changes. But from someone who has been crushed and nearly killed by the relentless blackness, who could see no light, and whose brother did die by suicide...ketamine is a lifesaver. Just ONE DAY of complete relief from symptoms gave me soooo much hope and was such a relief from tangible pain. (I was also in a lot of physical pain I was not aware of because it was so chronic...joint pain, neck pain, etc) and the actual anesthetic and anti-inflammatory effects were profound. I felt lighter in every way.m and SO much clearer in my thinking.

Please don't let the stories from idiots like Musk or Hollywood addicts scare you away from an incredibly effective treatment...honestly, the most efficacious and immediate medical treatment we have for suicidal ideation. It should be front line treatment in every ER, IMO.
