It stands to reason that the Ds will claim that any candidates opposing their candidates are “extremists.”

I hope every candidate gets a fair chance to be heard.

It’s actually good that Moon and McDaniel are back. And perhaps some of the more moderate independents will end up endorsed by the GOP.

MAGAs and their associates are extremists.

Why?

If you're asking the question, there is no answer that you'd accept

DP. Or, perhaps, you traffic in agit prop and can’t handle the possibility that some candidates who aren’t Ds are neither MAGA/Trump supporters nor extremists.

Ok? PP asked about MAGAs

Actually, PP asked about your reference to "MAGAs and their associates."

So explain what you mean by your language, and why you think it matters in an upcoming local School Board election.

We get it, you think that MAGA policies are acceptable and mainstream. You're free to vote for candidates who represent your world view, just don't be surprised when they lose in a blue county

In other words, you can't answer the question, but only use buzzwords and then imply guilt by association.

And I'm trying to find candidates who represent my priorities when it comes to public education in Fairfax County, not my entire "world view."

Good for you. Anyone who has endorsed vouchers or school choice or pressed for investigations into CRT or tried to get books they disagree with pulled from libraries (i.e. MAGA and maga adjacent policies) is someone that I won't vote for. Fortunately, those people are unelectable in Fairfax

The left banned 'Off Mice and Men,' Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,' and Dr. Seuss books. Are they now MAGA adjacent? Interdistrict school choice has existed in FCPS for decades, as well school choice for families with IEPs.

It's the constant effort to come up with litmus tests to exclude and denigrate candidates - and it is mostly local Democrats who do this - that I find ridiculous.

Candidates are responsible for their own actions. If they choose to partner with MAGAs, then they will face the consequences. It’s not some arbitrary litmus test. It speaks volumes about priorities and values.

Currently, it's the voters facing the consequences, the deteriorating public schools for example. How can someone blame MAGA on this.

Do you really think most people are unhappy with the schools that their kids attend? No surveys actually support that view. I guess you're banking on everyone thinking their own kids' school is an exception

Happy or not is one thing, whether parents realize and admit the learning loss is another thing.

Our kids are so constantly tested that you'd have to have your head in the sand to not know how your kid is doing

If 1/6/21 isn’t evidence enough for you, then you’re either brainwashed, brain dead or in on the grift. And sadly, the attempt to prevent a peaceful transfer of power is just the tip of the iceberg, but I’m sure y’all don’t believe in icebergs either.

If one year of full virtual isn’t enough evidence for you I don’t think you know enough about education to have an opinion.

There isn't one 1/6 supporter running and it's irrelevant, as this is Fairfax, not DC. Whoever is elected will have an immediate, and personal impact on everyone in the county. The current board is tanking the school system. We need to stop the ship from sinking.

Are they? My kids are doing great. We love their school. Most neighbors seem very happy with the schools.

Republicans only know how to obstruct and destroy. MAGAs are vile and dangerous.

They will not help our schools.

I kinda feel replacing the school board won't change the situation too much. How much effect do school board affect curriculum development, teaching resources selection and grading policy?

The power lies with FCPS, and given the constant turnover of Superintendents, really with administrators. The Board and Supt. get the publicity, but the day to day is out of public view.

They weren't very thorough, DD's reading group is doing Of Mice and Men, or are you referring to Off Mice and Men which does seem to have been effectively wiped from the internet

I voted for Obama, Clinton, and Biden. Have given thousands to Democratic candidates over the years.

Like our schools (the administrators and teachers) but am deeply worried about their futures, disgusted with the neglect, incompetence and hypocrisy of the current SB, and prepared to cross party lines this fall in local elections.

That is not MAGA speaking; that's a taxpayer and parent. And the more the FCDC party hacks - hideously nasty, self-serving creeps - try to paint us into a corner, the more likely we are to consider independent and GOP-endorsed candidates this fall.

So you like the schools and your concerned about their future (but with no specifics) and you solution is to vote for candidates who support vouchers? OK
