Every time a clownass like yourself posts this ridiculous nonsense, a pitbull is born that will seek you out to destroy something you love. Stop the hate before it's too late! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
So you admit these nasty dogs are violent and destructive? |
True |
Neuter these dogs! Can’t adopt a dog that isn’t a pit |
NP. What’s your story, PP? Why are you such a defender of the breed (or 5 breeds, as you like to repeat)? The posters you are attacking all make sensible points. |
You sure can, there are plenty non-pit dogs up for adoption, but you probably won't want them either. |
This is always a tell with these people. They're the most friendly, wonderful caring dogs out there, but you say you're not a fan and it's a quick pivot to, "my dog will eff you and your dog UP!" The narrative is all over the place. But, "You're a hater?!! Well my dog will kill your dog or toddler!" Like...ok. That's kind of what we want to avoid. AGAIN, give me another dog profile that needs this lobbying. |
Earnestly waiting for a reply to this, because none of the supporters seem to be able to look inward and correct what is ultimately an epidemic with no solution except glossy marketing.
"I'll put it this way for you as an anecdote: I was a 20 year shelter volunteer and foster. I've been through the Dobbies. The Rotties. NOTHING prepared me for the Pits, and it's mostly because of people like you who are completely cult-like in your devotion. Also, the Pit epidemic combined with no-kill shelters is basically animal abuse. I don't even like these dogs but it pulls at my heartstrings to see them tossed around from shelter to shelter for years. It's sick. Maybe they were good at one point? 4 years in a cage doesn't help. Ultimately, if this is your hill to die on, y'all need to clean up your backyard. Because it is messy AF right now with these dogs. You can spit and spat and deflect as much as you want, call others stupid, I don't care. The Golden Retriever community isn't exactly dealing with a similar issue despite the "all dogs bite!" refrain. They're not breeding more than anyone can reasonably handle. So what are YOU doing to turn this around since everyone else is apparently so ill-informed? Because it's an epidemic at this point." |
I have a pit mix and I do none of what you wrote. I love my dog but, I do not expect you to make friends, kiss it or give treats. Just leave us alone |
Not a doodle. |
I am the author of the very long post about the history of pit bulls, why they are overbred, and some opinion from me about when it is appropriate (and not) to adopt pits. Here are some informative articles from the ASPCA (not anti-dog and not anti-pet) that are informative and back up what I've written here: https://www.aspca.org/about-us/aspca-policy-and-position-statements/position-statement-pit-bulls https://www.aspca.org/investigations-rescue/dogfighting/closer-look-dogfighting#:~:text=Although%20there%20are%20many%20breeds,the%20American%20Pit%20Bull%20Terrier. I will add that it does not do pit bulls any favors to disregard or deny their history as dogs bred for fighting. One reason shelters are full of pits is that they are more likely than other breeds to be abandoned, due to owners witnessing aggression and not being able to handle it. So if you love pits, you need to be honest about them as a breed so that they end up in homes where people are prepared to handle their behaviors and dispositions. As I mentioned in my prior post, pits should be treated similar to other dogs bred for security, size, jaw strength, and aggression (like dobermans and Rottweilers). All of these dogs can make good pets but they aren't universally good pets for all people. The trouble with pits is that due to overbreeding a lot of shelters try to sell them as a universally great dog for any owner. It backfires because they aren't -- some people have no business adopting pits. The major issue is that the overbreeding needs to be addressed which is why I absolutely support forced sterilization of all pit bulls except for perhaps a small number of respected breeders. We need to get the oversupply of pits out of the dog population. It's the source of most of these issues. |
Sweetie, you showed long ago that there's no point in trying to have a sensible conversation. You're not interested in learning what you don't know. You've made up your mind. Okay. Be ignorant. Enjoy your day. |

Hunty, we don't need to lobby. I don't need your approval. Hate a whole breed (5 breeds, actually, not that facts matter to "those people"), if that's what puts a sparkle in your step. As a pp said: leave us alone. Who the hell are you to dictate what others do, based on your junk opinion and obvious bias? Just mind your own business, I'll mind mine, and everything will be lovely. |
The major issue lately is that some people have no business owning DOGS, of any breed. Some idiot's "friendly" whateverbreed was allowed to run off-leash right up to my dog. It's not my dog's fault she growled and snarled at an ill-trained, off-leash dog, but some people will rush to judge her "because she's a pit". That she didn't bite or maul the idiot's dog (or the idiot) will be completely overlooked by the jerks, who will say some "but she might, next time, pit bulls all 'snap' unexpectedly" because they simply can't comprehend the idea of a decent dog who is also part "pit bull". This topic will never be as cut-and-dried as the haters want it to be. They will never listen to reason or logic. Some of us get upset that 5 entire breeds of dogs get bans and hatred because people are ignorant, and then we get called all sorts of names for supporting sanity. And it makes for great clickbait, so TPTB continue to fuel the drama and eat their popcorn. There will be very little changing sides here. |
