You dont know what his motives are. You dont know that he listened to right wing media. For all we know, he disliked someone at the club. |
Why are you an apologist for this punk? He shot innocent strangers who were enjoying themselves at a drag show. I don’t give a shit what he says now. He went to an LGBTQ club and intended to massacre many more than the five people he killed. |
The PP wasn’t being an apologist. The PP is calling people out for making up motives. |
We know he has a history of homophobic hate speech. We know his homophobic, meth addicted, porn star dad was relieved to find out his son wasn’t gay when he found out he had shot up a gay bar (he hasn’t been around his dad for years but I don’t think we know about his childhood relationship with his father). We know he belonged to a conservative church although he’s inactive now. We know his grandpa is an extremely conservative politician. But yeah, it’s a huge stretch to think he’s influenced by right wing propaganda. He’s probably just having a friendly disagreement with a trans bartender, a drag queen, or a mom who likes comedy shows, and it got out of hand so he shot up the whole bar. It’s probably not that he’s a gun nutter influenced by conservative homophobic messaging. |
Who is saying it’s “fine [to] target that group”? Who is saying “Go out and shoot them”? I want names. |
Meanwhile if there was any indication that he was democratic in any way, the conservatives saying "you don't know his motives" or "you can't blame politics for evil" or "stop jumping to conclusions" ... Would be the FIRST to imply that the toxic political agenda of the left, his LGBTQ+-ness, were all related to his motive. FFS, it's so ridiculous. See FoxNews comment section, they were implying that this is all democrats fault up until the interview with the father and now they say "evil is evil" "you can't blame politics" or they still think he's closet LGBTQ+ You cannot talk about the toxic agenda of the right, it doesn't exist, right? right? right? Only on the left till absolutely proven wrong then it's not about the politics? So ridiculous. |
Do you really believe that radio and tv hosts who go about saying nasty things about LBGTQ people have zero influence on their audiences. Fortunately, the majority of their listeners just end up being a*****s who parrot the stuff they hear and generally people you don’t want to be around, but are for the most part harmless at least as far as murdering other people. There are, however, people in their audience who will decide to act on what they hear - they are unstable to begin with but feeding them this insidious hate messages is just a bad thing. The right wing spewers of this nonsense should be aware of what they can unleash. |
While the investigation of the shooter's motives isn't finished, it is reasonable to assume that shooting up a gay club or a synagogue or any other venue frequented by members of a minority of some kind is motivated by hate. Occam's razor and all. |
To the poster who questioned whether the shooting at a gay club in Colorado was a "hate crime"--yes, it turns out that it was. Anderson Lee Aldrich charged with hate crimes in Club Q shooting https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2022/12/06/anderson-lee-aldrich-colorado-shooting-charges-hate-crimes/10843493002/ |

Seems to happen again and again. The shooter was known to the authorities but no one takes action. So much for red flag laws etc. |
