And just like he undid carbon markets, the next governor can make it all go away. |
Where does he plan on getting the funding? |
Talking about racism, all the time, 24/7, interjecting it into every lesson - IS racist. And inappropriate. And the polar opposite of "moderation and common sense." |
Really? Link to your source, please. Otherwise you're just spinning and fear-mongering - as usual. Yawn. |
Read Burke’s op-ed above. He selected her to shape education direction. |
Sounds good to me. |
| Every time people say that parents will pull their kids from public schools if they get vouchers, they are telling us that anyone with a viable choice won’t choose them. |
From a member of Youngkin’s very own education team - Lindsey Burke: https://www.heritage.org/education/commentary/virginia-election-outcome-was-about-education-here-are-4-actions-youngkin “Now is the time for Virginia to follow in the steps of its neighbor to the West and establish universal education savings accounts, as West Virginia did earlier this year. Every single child in Virginia, from the moment they begin kindergarten, should be able to choose the school or education provider that works for them and aligns with their values.” |
NP +1 But still, even though they know they’re so bad, they won’t do anything to increase behavioral expectations or increase the rigor in the public school system. They know why people are leaving for privates, they themselves send their kids to privates, but they make the rest of us suffer in the public school system or homeschool because we can’t afford privates like they can. They have no morals. |

Of the suggestions made by Lindsey Burke, most seem doable and sensible, especially
* Rejecting CRT-infused pedagogy from spreading further in VA public schools * Eliminating teacher certification requirements and prioritizing a teacher's subject-matter expertise over their fidelity to what gets taught in education coures * Prioritize the hiring of teachers over more administrators and "diversity, equity and inclusion" specialists While she says expanding school choice is most important, more people might be inclined not to give up on our failing public schools if the first three measures were implemented. It's the hard drift to the far-left, large class sizes, and the neglect by school officials to pay attention to basic things like sound planning and facilities management (such a total debacle recently in both APS and FCPS, aided and abetted by corrupt School Boards) that are causing so many to look for alternatives. |
+100 Best post I've read on the topic yet. |
Bulleted out just like GOP shill.
Eliminating certification? WTH? Youngkin has shown us that vouchers are in play. Hopefully public school parents push back. |
Thanks for the accolades. I’m the prior PP and was a long-time Democrat. Still support Biden but the local Democrats in NoVa are nuts. Keep calling us GOP shills and we’ll keep exploring other electoral options. |
Did you vote for Youngkin? |

The answer is to force everyone back into the public schools. If the well off aren’t invested in their success, they will fail.
Now, I know the Constitution says people have the right to indoctrinate their kids, but the Constitution doesn’t say anything at all about schooling. And Texas has given us a great model for private citizens to enforce a newly-enacted ban against private schooling. $10k per kid bounty. |
