Former FCPS School Board Member Elizabeth Schultz on Youngkin's Education Transition Team

Anonymous
The members of Glenn Youngkin's transition team on education include Elizabeth Schultz. This is a very conservative roster of advisors that can be expected to push for school vouchers, charter schools, and refocusing public schools on basic academics and away from CRT-based initiatives. Had local School Boards controlled by Democrats been more responsible and done more over the past two years to focus on the basics like academics and facilities, we wouldn't be facing this type of 180-degree policy takeover. All I can say to the clowns on the FCPS School Board is that I hope you're happy with what you've brought about.

• (Chair) Sen. David Suetterlein (R-Roanoke County)
• Sen. Siobhan Dunnavant (R-Henrico)
• Del. John Avoli (R-Staunton)

• Former Rep. Tom Davis (former R-11 and Rector of the George Mason University Board of Visitors

That is a frightening list. All those mommies who thought voting for Youngkin would stick it to the evil Democrats are going to be in for a shock.

Schultz is just vile. She was a terrible board member.

Schultz knocked on my door last time she was campaigning. Her whole platform, as explained by her in person, was bathrooms and Gavin Grimm.

I’m a mommy who did this. First R vote ever. An good. After t*ts how last year, FCPS proved they should not have a monopoly or free education. If there had been charters and vouchers, FCPS would have had to open— or become defunct. Nothing wrong with making the, compete for students with the private sector.

Bring on charters, vouchers, magnets, smaller more specialized HSs, etc.

Let's say they don't come to pass.

Even so, do you really think the reputation of the public schools is going to improve one iota if you now have a team of a dozen or so current/former conservative Republicans handed a platform to make the case for why there need to be more options?

I do not believe you.

Excellent. So happy to see this list of names and excited to see what they decide to change.

We are in for a real decline in education and raging culture wars about books and bathrooms. I am so disgusted by those voters who fell for all of Youngkin’s right wing trigger words.

Stop with the equity at the center of it all nonsense. The primary job of a school system is education. That should be their #1, #2 and #3 priorities.

Renaming schools, changing admissions to 1 HS, equity dashboards, etc. should be way down the agenda of a school board.

Not a public school board. Public schools are required by law to responsive to all, not cater to upper middle class children of privilege who were born on third and whose parents think they hit a triple.

If you want the things you list, private school is a legitimate option.

As a taxpayer, I am far more concerned that the needs of the underserved are met first and foremost.

It’s not them making improvements that I’m worried about.
