The fact is that Youngkin won because Democrat voters didn't feel enthused enough about McAuliffe to bother voting. And a lot of potential McAuliffe voters didn't feel enthusiastic enough because they blame Democrats for harmful school closures.
This wasn't an election that Youngkin won by converting masses of Democrats. It was an election that McAuliffe lost because the perception among likely voters was that McAuliffe doesn't care at all about educating their kids. |
oh ffs. nobody was lying. maybe PP had their dates wrong somewhat. the fact remains - schools closed for well over a year and Virginia was among the worst states for the length of closures. We all lived through it. You can’t pretend it didn’t happen as much as you wish you could. |
Blatant lie #1: ”Fcps special ed kids wwre kept out of school through the summer of 2021” Blatant lie #2: ”schools closed for well over a year” I mean, it felt like 5 years but it was just a year. Maybe even less for some. |
I’m not going to do this with you. What a pitiful deflection. |
It happened. My kids are still trying to catch up in some areas. That year definitely sucked for almost all of us. You don’t need to lie about it to make your point. That only detracts from your message. |
If the Ds could manage to stop lying and gaslighting, maybe we'd get somewhere. But that's not about to happen, so... |
| Does it matter whether it was 18 months, 12 months, or 9 months? The fact is that VA school closures were much longer than average and not based in sound science. The exact time period is less important. |
If it were a one-time slip up, sure. But it’s been repeated many times. This is just another lame attempt to spread misinformation. |
Projecting again? |
OMG I'm sorry but you are ridiculous. Who tf cares whether the time period was exactly a year or 18 months or whatever. No wonder the Democrats are doomed. |
"Be your own guy." Oh that's rich. |
Did Halle have Fox and rightwing radio lying for him all day every day? The propaganda difference is massive. |
No we are just trying to have the Ds win the next election and you’re not helping!!!! |
Not Fox or talk radio, but pretty much every single other media outlet on the air.... |

“ It was an election that McAuliffe lost because the perception among likely voters was that McAuliffe doesn't care at all about educating their kids.”
It’s this. And frankly I do NOT think it was a backlash against schools having closed from 3/20-3/21 or masks. I think it was a lot more about how the schools are handling this now and how they are likely to moving forward. FCPS’s survey on calendar came out around the same time as the election and in it I was pretty shocked to find the question about using asynchronous days as an option even next year. Nova generally supported school closure as necessary 3/20-3/21 but even we are done now and ready to be moving on. |
