Do you think the VA governor's race will have an impact on NoVA school board elections?

Do you think the governor's race will have an impact on Northern VA school board elections? Or is that too down ballot and most people don't even select anyone that far down the ballot? Do you think people are paying close attention? I feel like nonpartisan races are getting hypersensitive about the what political affiliation is of each candidate. Some people have it way wrong. What do you think?

Which school boards are up for election? Not LCPS.

ACPS for one.

OTH I would like more info about Polk if anyone knows anything.

It's not true. Polk has sent home classrooms of kids to quarantine because one kid in the class tested positive. Entire classrooms, nor majority of classrooms, are not getting sick. The masks are working, nobody else is testing positive after the initial kid, and kids are just forced to be home for a few weeks.

Haha. Kids go to school all over Europe without masks with worse vaccination and case rates than here, but "the masks are working." It is a zombie mask cult.

Another reason I'm glad I voted for Youngkin (first time voting Republican ever).

Too funny. Putting a bandana over your mouth and nose prevents the plague according to these people. It's time to get back to normal. Covid just isn't that dangerous for children. Just look at Florida.

Very funny - these people think a piece of cloth prevents virus particles that are smaller than the fiber threads in the cloth from spreading, but kids elsewhere throughout Europe and the US are going to school without masks and that must be ignored.

"Just look at Florida" - it actually has the lowest cases per capita of any state now.

It is easier to have a lower COVID rate when you've killed off a bunch of vulnerable people.

Exactly. They’re still trying to go for the herd immunity approach, apparently.

And I am definitely not voting for our current Democratic mayor (although I am not sure if I will vote for an opponent or do a write-in for Daffy Duck). I don't know which came first but either way the outcome is a hot mess for me.

LOL Justin Wilson and the Democrats won City Council handedly. Sucks to be you.

Anti-science nonsense. Now do Sweden.

Still no apology for keeping schools closed by the Democratic leadership last year. It’s clear to all of us that schools could have stayed open with proper risk mitigation.

Just look at Seattle and you will see the consequences of voting for all liberals.

And a ton of people have already gotten it so have some immunity (for awhile). And you have "unusual" testing and data reporting policies. Considering Florida actually has a reasonable vaccination rate, and a REALLY high vaccination rate for the elderly, it's unconscionable just how many people have died as a result of their policies.

I would LIKE the school board to return to being non partisan. Maybe the VA Ds will realize that the local D school boards cost them the governship this time around - and maybe we can really get away from political party endorsements for school board. I really think that WOULD be better.

Would the Rs be up for that too - statewide?

C’mon. This is an intellectually dishonest take.

So for everyone all posted that the school boards must pay for closing schools during the pandemic. . .

Wasn’t it the school administration who made that call on in-person/hybrid/concurrent?

What local school board insisted on opening schools that an administrator insisted on keeping closed? I realize this is a non-FCPS board, but the superintendent there wanted to open with hybrid in the fall, while the SB insisted on keeping their heads up their butts for political reasons.
