I hope not, so unfair to the kids.

It is, but that's not the teachers' faults. They cannot be expected to work without the security of being paid. You would do the same thing in their shoes.

While the kids are going to be unfairly impacted if this happens, it is hard not to be sympathetic to the faculty who have endured so much uncertainty regarding their livelihoods in the past 3-4 months. If an employer didn't make payroll for an entire month and kept making shaky assurances about funding that never seems to materialize, I think most of us wouldn't stick around either

The blame for this rests squarely on CW and his enablers

Most of them are just fired staff and contractors who haven’t gotten paid yet lololol

Quick question: what do you do for work and how long would you do it without guarantee of pay?

And being owed multiple paychecks on work you've already done in the past?

Not surprising at all. Its the end of the 2nd Trimester. Students will get the latest report cards and then transition somewhere else. Unless a miracle happens on March 24th.

No judgement it’s just having empathy for the innocent kids who are being impacted. I don’t blame the teachers for their decisions. No one should work for free.

Terrible situation for the seniors graduating, but I totally understand the teachers decision.

I’m so tired of teachers being exploited like this. When a nurse quits their job do we cry “what about the kids?” No! We hire the next person and move on. And when people aren’t applying for the position we give bonuses and extra wages. Have yet to see a single school in the DMV give hazard pay to teachers. In fact, some have actually frozen teacher pay.

Those innocent kids are not being held captive by the teachers. Their parents are choosing to keep them at Whittle.

Ding ding ding! The teachers have stayed a hell of a lot longer than I would have.

Again not blaming the teachers but sympathizing with the kids as in its a shame it’s come to this. I think the teachers are well within their rights.

Then why use the word "unfair"? The teachers, along with the students, seem like the blameless parties in all of this.

As are the unpaid teachers, who may well have children of their own to support.
