Will Whittle be around next year?

Anonymous
I heard that a lot of Sr. staff are leaving or have left. Does anyone have any idea if they will still be open next fall? if they close, I hope they tell current families soon.

Sounds like it’s been rocky. One of dd’s best ever teachers left our public system for Whittle. Hopefully she’ll come back if Whittle closes. It’s a shame that a school drawing excellent educators isn’t thriving.

Is it in person now? If so, I bet it will be ok.

So basically it is BASIS x2? Cool, cool.

Why would anyone put a deposit down to commit to a school that may or may not be there in the fall?

A friend has 2 kids there. She is torn about their financial stability. But she feels the school hasn't told her that they won't be there next year so she thinks they will be. Others are saying that there is no way they will make it - they only had enough funding through March - they had a bridge loan. Will be interesting to see if more funding becomes available.

Whittle parent here. Not returning next year. The icing on the cake was the fancy new gym, but no funds to buy proper equipment. And yes, they got a PPP loan yet laid people off early on.

Also whittle parent here. We are not returning and the reason is the lack of quality teaching and staff. All marketing materials and no substance. If they had the funds it would possibly be doable.

For those who aren’t returning, do you mind sharing what grade your child is currently in?

And where do you apply out to just curious?

Middle school and all of the usual schools in DMV. I am a bit concerned that child will be behind.

My sister has her son there and seems to like it. This is their first year in upper elementary grade.

Wow. That is a big yikes. The school always seemed sketchy to me, interesting that it actually is sketchy.
