I don't like Trump. Period. That said, there were ALREADY not enough tests. The CDC botched the test kits and refused the WHO test kits WEEKS ago. The testimony yesterday was so good. South Korea and America reported it's first cases of Coronavirus within one day of each other in January. In one month, both countries produced their own tests again within days of each other. The CDC sent out test kits across the country and when independent labs tested them, they failed to work. Instead of taking on the WHO test kits, CDC said all tests needed to be sent to their Atlanta lab for testing. The same lab that botched the test to begin with. South Korea tests 4,000 people per 1 million in their population. America tests 15 people per 1 million in our population. The kicker. The lead guy in charge of the test and testing in Atlanta that botched this whole thing to begin with, is still in charge there. Trump didn't restrict testing. There are not enough tests and there have never been enough tests. I hate Trump and want so badly for this to just be his fault, but this is such a deeper and wider problem. . We need to ALL be way more proactive at getting to the root of our CDC issues that has been ongoing for over a decade now. |

Not to pile on to the CDC, I'm not impressed by the fact that the site reporting testing data, which says it gets updated daily at noon, is still not updated for today (three hours later). Particularly unimpressive considering that yesterday's data reports no test results since 3/6 -- although state labs have pushed through over 2000 tests since then. In all, looks like state labs have done about 7200 tests since 2/22, and CDC has done about 1000. Has CDC just decided it's not doing tests anymore and letting the private and state labs do it? I guess that's fine, but it would be nice if they'd just say what the plan is.
Also, has anyone heard what the plan is for ramping up production of masks and other PPE, as well as things like oxygen, CPAP, vents, etc.? Seems like we should be re-tooling factories and coming up with a system of priority distribution for those things, but I haven't seen ANYTHING talking about that. It's like we can only focus on one thing at a time, and it's still containment. |
She could have received a flu test though. I have several coworkers who have tested positive for the flu in the past few weeks. I would be inclined to point blank as her if she has a positive flu test. She’s not obligated to say, but... |
| Just got word from my Dutch mother in law that The Netherlands is quarantining until March 31. She is no where near Amsterdam either. |
PP who reported the Azar news. I agree with you. The WAMU interview I heard goes into detail about all those things as well, but it's just incredible that the White House response would be to focus on the low numbers and not try to solve testing problems. My point is: scientists are doing their work against the will of the White House right now. |
Better to be prepared.

Given HOW MANY Things like this we've heard about over the past 3 years, it is not surprising. There have been many instances where the WH knew something but purposely covered it up or directly or indirectly lied about it on tv and then we find out the opposite later. Remember when Pompeo was on tv right after the news of Ukraine came out and Pompeo was like "I'm just hearing about this now" when in fact, he had been ON THE CALL in July? That's just one. There have been SO MANY! Remember when they hatched a plan on how to describe Don Jr's meeting with the Russian lawyer --- oh it was just about adoptions -- but really it was about getting Russian dirt on Hillary Clinton. So many. |
IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN and ALWAYS WILL BE about the MARKETING with Trump. He only knows ONE thing -- and that's marketing. He marketed himself right into the White House. And now he has no idea how to handle the actual job responsibilities except to "market" this as a hoax, or a small inconvenience, or a political ploy by the dems. He doesn't ever bother with facts or truth... the only thing that matter is how to market himself. Even just last night he was pointing the finger at Europeans for screwing it up. He only knows "comparison" talk. Europe = bad, so that must make him = good. Such a simpleton. |
DP. This is a failure of leadership. As soon as there was the tiniest hitch in the CDC test development, an effective leader would have accepted the WHO tests at least temporarily. |

Ohio is closing all schools for 3 weeks as officials there believe there are probably 100,000 cases in the state.
