| Did other Carson parents get links for these meetings? We have an 8th grader at Carson and all I can find is a Dec 10 naming meeting invite (who cares about the name, I have no idea) |
FCPS CIP and previous redistrictings haven’t counted new developments until they’ve started building. FWIW, it’s how they end up with situations like Coates, but it’s how they roll… |
Yes, it was in today's email. |
| Omg, thank you. I would have never have seen it - last child and I stopped opening general school emails a while ago! |
| Master Barbering I&II (High School) will be offered to students that will be enrolled at Western High school. |

| If a school offers full AP courses and also offers anything practical or "vocational" why do you disparage it? Legit question. My son got some MS certifications and an AWS cloud certification in high school. He is getting a PhD now in Machine Learning and if I told you the total comp paid in AI/ML post doc positions you would not believe me, so I wont. It was part of his journey of pushing himself at ever level. All the same, wondering why people think AP courses mixed with practical skills or certifications is something to make fun of. I don't get the joke. |
Because they have no class. They think they are elite, but they are not too smart. |
I work in academia and agree with this. Students with some practical skills are more likely to get to work in faculty labs earlier in their undergrad career, which can help them build their CV/resume. I imagine it would help with getting internships too. Excellent grades with no practical skills are not what people are looking for. Many would rather take a student with good grades and some skills, than top grades and no skills. Students can get really good at playing the game of earning high grades while being clueless on how to function in a lab or work setting where you have to learn quickly and figure out when to troubleshoot on your own and when to ask questions. |
| Where are you all seeing curriculum info? Or are you making it up? |
Look at SB work session and regular meeting agendas. |
There is the presentation that they gave to the 8th graders that discuss this plus the presentations that they have given to parents at various meetings. You can go to YouTube and search for the presentation given to 8th graders in October. |
