Believe it or not SYC rubs many people inside and outside of the club the wrong way. Its the same at all clubs. Majority of soccer parents are not even aware of DCUM. Imagine if everyone knew about and posted here. Not 1 club would look favorable.

We are new to the area and I hear a lot of positive things about SYC. Parents say they are one of the top clubs!

You have your choice of about 30-40 different clubs all within 1 hr of each other. Total honesty not one is so far ahead of the pack that they should be called a top club. A lot of good soccer here but the talent is spread so thin across clubs there not one dominant club or league.

Trust me SYC is equal to every other DMV club. None are above average. Find a club your kid fits in at and enjoy the ride til they age out or quit.

What you say is correct. They are all the same. Just find one without a coach or TD that is a narcissistic and/or maniacal jerk and hold on.

For many of the SYC players recruited this year, college wasn't even an option without the prospect of playing soccer. I interpreted their comment differently than you. I did take it as a knock on that club, not the kids. A knock on the club because of the constant claims to fame by EM like when he chimed in with more of the same after your comment. We will never know the PP's intent unless they clarify which is highly unlikely on an anonymous forum. But, I think we both agree all of this should be about and for the kids. Not empire building by any club's staff or the parents living vicariously through their kids. Kids first!

how many are on full scholarships for soccer? How many who have partial scholarships would have qualified for need based aid in the same amount? Soccer isn't basketball or football with full rides readily available to anyone who makes the team. On the boys side, if you are lucky, you get a partial scholarship- a DI team has 9.9 to split across a 29 person roster
