Usha needs to have her colors done. She doesn’t need to be a fashion plate, just pick some basics that work and simple dresses. Over time she’ll probably get things tailored. You have to wonder what she really thinks about the position she’s in. |
Did posters do this to Karen Pence, too? I don’t remember it with quite it with same level of rancor. |
Offended? Those are pretty strong words for some ill-fitting outfits. I disagree that she is showing disrespect. Honestly that’s a baffling interpretation. |
Give me a break. Melanie, with her “I don’t care, do you” jacket is the height of offensive and disrespectful. |
She didn't fail in as interesting ways. Also, as a middle aged white lady, we probably had much lower expectations for her. But if she'd been traipsing around in ill-fitting glam gowns and off shoulder jumpsuits, I'm sure we'd have noticed. I do remember the board giving praise when she got her glow up. |
No one cares that she is thin and went to YLS. This is DC. Thin women who went to YLS and work in big law are a dime a dozen. It is disrespectful to represent America abroad looking so unkempt. Especially when you have unlimited assistance and budget. That is why people are irked. |
And it got remarked on for days. Years. We're still talking about it. But she has a glam and teflon quality that also gives her a bit of a pass for anything. She is obviously very confident, which goes a long way. It's different from Vanky, even, who always seems like she's trying really hard - which is part of what makes it interesting. Usha is trying really hard and looking a mess. |
No because even when she was Second Lady she looked like she practiced basic grooming? She was completely unremarkable with her sheath dresses, 1” block heels, and grandma hair. My issue is not that Usha’s clothes are ugly, although they usually are. My issue that this is a woman with time, money, and assistance to look good and she looks like she barely bothers to shower most days. |
I don’t think she is showing disrespect. I think that when you look sloppy people perceive it as disrespectful. I think Usha is trying, at least a little. I wish great failure for her and everyone else associated with these fascists in everything they do. -OP |
This says quite a lot about you, and it isn’t good, lady. |
None of them get a pass. They are all monsters. Melania’s fashion sense is just better. |
I barely remember Karen Pence being photographed. Trump basically hid Pence away and then Pence hid his wife away. But I also agree that when she showed up she had a uniform that fit her role as boring, Uber-Christian, Midwestern mom. Usha could have a uniform of working mom from DC and hit it out of the park, maybe adding in some olaplex and a Dyson brush for her hair. For whatever reason, she seems resistant to that, but I think she could eliminate all discussion of her look with a few thoughtful choices. Maybe she’ll get there. I think she still has a little whiplash that he husband went from Thiele flunky to VP in less than 4 years. That has to be disorienting given that her YLS and post-law resume does not suggest she was gunning to be part of a political power couple (different from a legal-eagle power couple). She probably thought she’d be teaching at Stanford Law by the time the kids were 10. |
Sane people don’t perceive her oversized clothes as disrespectful. She’s done nothing close to looking like the Hamburgler during inauguration. |
Usha is a tired looking average Indian woman, looks wise no one in my Indian circle will give her a second glance, you all are welcome to fawn endlessly over her ill fitting clothes, grey hair at 39 and mile wide dark circles ( which can be easily remedied with a concealer).

Oh please. Yes, how horrible, she thinks someone should brush their hair and put on moisturizer before going out to represent their country diplomatically. |
