She’s on a government trip, serving as Second Lady. She chose to go and be in the spotlight.
Did posters do this to Karen Pence, too? I don’t remember it with quite it with same level of rancor.
No because even when she was Second Lady she looked like she practiced basic grooming? She was completely unremarkable with her sheath dresses, 1” block heels, and grandma hair. My issue is not that Usha’s clothes are ugly, although they usually are. My issue that this is a woman with time, money, and assistance to look good and she looks like she barely bothers to shower most days.
I barely remember Karen Pence being photographed. Trump basically hid Pence away and then Pence hid his wife away. But I also agree that when she showed up she had a uniform that fit her role as boring, Uber-Christian, Midwestern mom. Usha could have a uniform of working mom from DC and hit it out of the park, maybe adding in some olaplex and a Dyson brush for her hair. For whatever reason, she seems resistant to that, but I think she could eliminate all discussion of her look with a few thoughtful choices. Maybe she’ll get there. I think she still has a little whiplash that he husband went from Thiele flunky to VP in less than 4 years. That has to be disorienting given that her YLS and post-law resume does not suggest she was gunning to be part of a political power couple (different from a legal-eagle power couple). She probably thought she’d be teaching at Stanford Law by the time the kids were 10.
