I like the color of her dress but as other people have noted before, she needs some tailoring.
The littlest boy is all of us lol, what a cutie. I think Usha's dress is too casual.
She should have worn a Salvar Kaemez or Saree to meet Modi. I'm embarrassed on behalf of all Indian-Americans. Also she's part of the administration that shipped back over 100 Indian immigrants on an inhumane military flight. She's a POS.
+1 How could she not wear Indian clothes to meet the Indian Prime Minister???
She also met Macron in those clothes. I’m Indian and I think it was the right call to wear Western clothes. Can you imagine the MAGA reaction if she wore Indian clothes while representing the U.S.? It avoided unnecessary division.
If she were a fashionista she could have worn something Indo-Western… or at least something with a paisley print… but she’s not so whatever
Even Ivanka gave a nod to India with her sartorial choices. Probably easier to do this when you are white and a Trump kid rather than the VP's wife.
I think Usha is bordering on slovenly territory with her unkempt hair, gaunt face, and oversized clothes, but in her defense. Ivanka was actually in India/Pakistan when those pics were taken. Usha was in France when she met Modi in passing; she was not there specifically to meet him. I wouldn't have worn Indian clothes either.
There is absolutely no way Usha could have worn what Ivanka did in the bottom picture without many of you ripping into her.
Yes, I think Usha could never do what Ivanka did whether in India or not. Ivanka gets a pass as Trump's kid and as a white woman.
To be fair, 3/4 of the posts in the Trump fashion threads are pointing out how ridiculous Vanky is. I can't remember what we said about her India clothes. I guess Usha is so bad at clothes she makes Vanky look like a fashion mentor. Usha's are bad in a totally different direction. Vanky is all Ice Capades Russian Grandma Toddler Stripper, while Usha is just waah waah sad, limp, ill fitting. If makes you long for the spectacle of Ivanka.
Usha dresses like a stereotypical DC professional. when she has to dress up, she tries hard but doesn’t quite get it.
Right, it’s like any 40something professional/mom being told hey you’ve got a wedding and a conference coming up, better figure out what you’re going to wear, except it’s 60 weddings and 100 conferences one after the other and she needs help stat.
Yes! Also like she's decided she needs one dress she can wear for both. Which is how I dress! Because I don't have a stylist or unlimited money! Can I wear this dress to a wedding AND out to dinner AND to a conference and whatever. Usha should do better than me at a bare minimum! I don't know how to wear makeup or do my hair - do better than me, Usha!
Serious question, why does it bug so many people if she looks like a typical DC area mom? It’s not offensive. She’s busy running her life I’m sure.
Looking good and dressing well is a sign of respect. It is a sign of respect for yourself and also a sign of respect for the people around you. This is how I was raised by old world immigrant parents, at least. When you are representing your country in an official capacity you should strive to look your absolute best as much as you can, not out of vanity but to show respect. That is why the idea of dressing like a slovenly DC area mom is offensive. Melania is someone who is ridiculed on this thread but I think we all can admit she seems to have pride in her appearance and a desire to look good. I am more offended because I am a DC area mom and I always look my best. I know a lot of moms who look good and have nice taste. I think Usha is trying but generally seems to have kind of bad taste. Not as bad as Ivanka but not good. She seems resistant to the jewel tones that would look best with her skin tone. She mostly looks kind of sloppy and it’s mostly not even notable enough for this thread. I’m not sure she needs a stylist- she’s not that important and she doesn’t look THAT bad. It’s never full on inappropriate. -OP
Offended? Those are pretty strong words for some ill-fitting outfits. I disagree that she is showing disrespect. Honestly that’s a baffling interpretation.
I don’t think she is showing disrespect. I think that when you look sloppy people perceive it as disrespectful. I think Usha is trying, at least a little. I wish great failure for her and everyone else associated with these fascists in everything they do. -OP
Sane people don’t perceive her oversized clothes as disrespectful. She’s done nothing close to looking like the Hamburgler during inauguration.
