Biden's VP?

New NYT article clarifying the four tiers of prospects, which seems right to me. Though this is the second article I've read stating the Biden team has some skepticism toward Harris.

I think all the worries about finding a VP who has deep experience in this that and the other has become a lot louder now that the VP is certain to be a woman.

I think if Biden chose a man with no foreign policy experience, no one would blink an eye.
except that he said he would pick a woman.

I think PP was more pointing out the double standard that exists between female and male VP candidates. Not stating that Biden may pick a male.

+1. Also, Trump has removed any necessary experience requirements.

I would argue the opposite, that Trump has reinforced the importance and necessity of experience.

Democrats are just better than Republicans. Of the possibilities, I feel like Warren is ready day one.

Though again, I’m voting for Biden/Whoever.

+1 from me, too. And also agree Warren could walk in and do the job well on day one - but I think electorally she's a liability. Anyway, Biden/whoever has my vote.

That’s a great article.

One of the comments on it said Warren as V.P., Rice as Secretary of State and Harris as AG. I’d be fine with that.

That would be ideal imo but I doubt it will be Warren for all the reasons previously stated on this thread. None of the candidates is perfect, but my guess is Rice or Duckworth.

Interesting article. I was fully thinking the campaign would pick Whitmer originally, but now I think they will pick Demings or Harris.

I thought Whitmer too, but agree things have changed. I think it will be Harris, Rice, Demings, or Duckworth--whichever one Joe likes best and will most help in swing states (why I'm not ruling out Duckworth).

The Biden campaign has said they will not announce the pick until late July or early August. My guess is that the frontrunner will change, possibly weekly between now and then depending on what the candidates do, what new news comes along, which ones work positively with the trending news and which ones experience matters the most between now and then. If you look at January, March and June, the frontrunners have shifted a lot in that time. So it is likely that the next 4-6 weeks will matter on who will end up being picked when the time comes to announce.

Another issue is that waiting until August gives the opposition less time to formulate attack plans on the VP especially if they have to adjust around multiple candidates with different strengths and weaknesses. So delaying helps keep the Trump reelection campaign more off balance. And right now, the national news is trending poorly for the president, so Bidien really doesn't need to do anything that gives them anything to grasp to attack his campaign. He's stuck with the same attacks that he's had for the last several months and his attacks seem old and worn as he gives the Biden campaign more and more new things to attack daily.

All good points. It's true momentum has shifted in various ways over the past several months, will be interesting to see if anything changes in the next month.

I had never heard of Maggie Raimindo before, but reading that makes me want her to be president.

I know that Biden said he would pick a woman and that the Warren people would have a cow if he didn't pick a woman BUT I really wish that he would pick Booker.

Cory Booker is extremely intelligent, a hard worker, good speaker and energizes people. He is loved by progressives and not as off putting to the centrists the way that Sanders and Warren are with their constant battles for ideas they hatched a decade ago. He's forward thinking without being a demagogue. After being VP, he would 100% be ready to run and win.

Progressives think he's too beholden to pharma. Bernie people would tear him apart, same way they'd tear anyone apart for not being Bernie.

I like him a lot. I'm just a boring centrist. That probably tells you what you need to know.

I don't know Maggie, but I've seen a bit of Gina Raimondo.... and she seems o.k.
