I’m the OP of this thread. I started it almost a year ago. Surprised to see it’s still going. I was reading about the origins of world religions with my eighth grader, and we were looking at different maps of the ancient world in this book: There is a pretty clear and specific map of where St Paul went and where he established churches. (There are also maps of where Buddha and Mohammed went and when). I was wondering what people thought his teachings were based on if not some kind of reality, even if they thought it was distorted. That’s funny that people interpreted my question as thirst or atheist. I am Catholic, but, as a Catholic, I am open to doubt and other ideas. I actually thought several answers in this thread were really helpful. |
Sorry…this book: https://www.amazon.com/History-World-Map-DK/dp/1465475850/ref=asc_df_1465475850/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312114660688&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5297823334967907540&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9024572&hvtargid=pla-551265269969&psc=1 |
If I were teaching a child or looking for answers about this topic, I’d read some actual sourced information from a credible source. Lots of sketchy opinions here without sources. |
Regardless of one's opinion on the topic, that looks like a really great book. I'd love to get it. |
I put this in here just to show that it’s a secular book, but I want to say that you should get it if you like this sort of thing or if you have a child studying world history. It really is a great book. We just did units on Marco Polo and Zheng He, and it’s great to be able to trace their routes and incorporate geography into various timelines. |
