Harvard: 1
Princeton: 2
MIT: 1
Columbia: 1
Penn: 1
Cornell: 1
Dartmouth: 1

There will be more to come I think. With the exception of the girl going to MIT, there isn't an athletic recruit in the bunch. Nice job Class of 2028!

Congrats to all those kids But this is why the NCS parent boosters who denigrate GDS and say NCS is a "better" school than GDS get to me. Maybe the Cathedral schools are great, but not in terms of college acceptances 2024. I think the old guard of DC doesn't like that what they see as a "super-liberal" school is having this kind of success.

In a class of 125 at GDS
These are committed students (Just posted so far and more to come)
6 Harvard
3 Princeton
2 Dartmouth
2 cornell
1 U Penn
1 Brown
1 Yale (unposted to IG)
1 Columbia

Sure but almost all these kids are hooked.

No, STA tries very hard to keep its stats away from the public. No IG posts, and no data on each graduating class. It seems like they have something to hide.

BS

Every parent at STA is given the class matriculation every year in the school bulletin, and prospective parents can ask the admissions office if they are interested.

They don't do Instagram because that's a tad too gauche.

I'm the poster with the NCS information. Not sure why you turned this into a competition between the schools. Nowhere did I say that NCS was better than any other school, just that they had good results this year. It's a small graduating class and it's an all-girls school (and girls have a higher bar (even at top schools) because more of them are applying).

It would be wonderful if we could all just celebrate the college successes of all the students instead of trying to use one year of data to argue that a particular school is better than another. So much more goes into a high school experience than college results. I actually think my DD would have liked GDS better than NCS and I wish we would have sent her there, but not because of the class of 2024 college acceptances.

Absolutely. Just like the head of STA has a button that allows him to delete posts on DCUM he also has the ability to kill posts on Instagram. That’s how much pull the school has.

You seem to struggle with reading comprehension. The operative word is PUBLIC. Much better schools offer more transparency when it comes to college matriculations. What is STA hiding?

Btw, I’ve met plenty of STA students. More than a few were quite gauche.

The world is a big place. There is no singular best school. Who cares what some anonymous chatroom says about which school is better? Also, who cares about the aggregate of college choices from a kids’ HS - you want your kid’s school to provide opportunities for your specific kid in a framework that works for your family. Every kid is different, which is why there are many choices out there and there is no singular answer.

PS: there are amazing kids and jerky kids at every school, public and private.

PPS: winning the debate on DCUM provides zero benefit to your actual real life.

NCS parents are not anti GDS. In fact they are probably GDS's biggest supporters of the top schools.

That being said, GDS is not a Big 3 but yes they do have great college results this yea but yes I agree with others there are many hooks and a few very connected parents. In regards to NCS and STA which both have very small classes - 71 and 75ish respectively, percentage wise GDS is not sending more to Ivies.

Thanks, Captain Obvious. All one has to do is compare the number of IG posts to the number of students in the graduating class (usually found on the school’s profile) to figure that out.

Yes, but you seem to hang your hat on every ivy admit being posted and they clearly are not.
Considering the level of vitriol here I’d never have my child post there.

It’s gross the way adults follow and tear kids and schools down. Just abhorrent behavior.

Adults? Most of the vitriol is coming from unhappy/bored teenagers.

Only 46% of this school getting into a T25 when UVA is an in-state option is not very impressive, the Big 3 all send similar percentages without that bump and without counseling out 30% of rising 8th graders.

I’m not sure “unhappy” but I think several of bored teenagers. At least I hope so.
