Disagree. Don't see how it will be different from Carson. I think you are forgetting that one of the elementary schools at Carson sends kids elsewhere. |
| Navy is screwed. Our best bet is to advocate with Crossfield. |
I understand the current, and rather complex, base and AAP feeder patterns to and from Carson well enough. My assessment is based on the demographics of the schools most likely to feed into Western, recognizing that they will differ from the current demographics of Carson, which include a large number of AAP kids who won’t end up at Western. I’m not as invested as you are in selling a particular future profile for this school. I’m just calling it as I see it as a relatively neutral observer. Be well. |
Oh. I think you are quite invested. Why else would you bring this up? You also seem fixated on AAP. Did you know that the demographics of Franklin are pretty similar to Carson? Snob. |
Totally agree! |
I didn’t bring it up. I weighed in after others brought it up. And, even though I disagree with your predictions, I’ve also said the school will be fine. Again, be well. |
Which AAP kids that haven't been mentioned won't end up at Carson? |
How many is this, honestly? An how much overlap is there with the Navy kids? Also the kids from Floris that go to Fox Mill + the kids from Oak Hill are all from high achieving families. |
And this is why Crossfield families want to stay at Oakton. That said, if it has an Aviation and/or AI academy-style program, how many kids that would otherwise have gone to TJ from Western Fairfax will go to Western instead? |
Demographics will be fine--with or without fancy academy. Pretty much what Carson is now. Similar to Chantilly. Good mix. You can look at the stats and figure it out. |
I wouldn’t expect a lot of TJ-eligible kids opting for Western rather than TJ. Chantilly has a STEM academy but is still one of the four pyramids sending the most kids to TJ, along with McLean, Oakton, and Langley. |
Disagree, for reasons set forth earlier. Although it will be closer to Chantilly after the new boundaries are established than to Chantilly now, assuming Chantilly loses Oak Hill. |
What arrogance. |
Very few, if any. The point of TJ isn't a STEM based curriculum. The point is a STEM based curriculum with advanced students. The peer group is the draw, and that's achieved through a competitive application process, not by offering an AI or aviation focus. |
| The school will be fine. All they need to do is set the boundaries. They should forget about the career path until later. |
