People act like Oakton has compact boundaries and Crossfield is the outlier that’s so much further away than everyone else. If Crossfield is rezoned this time, hopefully those at Navy who live in Herndon and Fairfax or those at Waples Mill who live a few streets away from Crossfield pay attention to the new developments in Oakton. |

Believe me, we are all tracking the new developments in Oakton. That's why everyone is saying that if Crossfield doesn't move this time they definitely will in 5 years. Maybe you're right and parts of Navy (Navy Island?) might be moved too. |

| Crossfield is singled out not only because it is farthest away, but because it is closer to so many other high schools. Navy is close to Chantilly - but they don't and won't have space to take on more Navy kids than they already do. |

If Crossfield is moved this time and the new development still causes overcrowding in the Oakton pyramid you think Navy which is in many cases only a mile or two further from where most people in Crossfield live to 5 other schools is safe…okay. |

Most of Navy was kicked out of Chantilly in the South Lakes redistricting years ago. They were very upset as they are a hop, skip, and a jump from Chantilly. Remember the woman who attacked Kathy Smith? Years later she was still angry about it. |

This new school will have the same population as Carson MS minus the AAP kids from Waples and Navy. Everyone goes on and on about how Carson is the best middle school in the County. Why would the Western High not be just as good? The AAP kids from Waples and Navy are just a tiny portion of the kids at Carson, they are definitely not the best and the brightest there by any stretch. |

Dp. Minus those Navy/Waples AAP kids, and also minus either Fox Mill or Crossfield, and all of the students at Carson who end up at TJ. Not sure how much of a difference that will make, but it's not the same population... |

And, Crossfield or Fox Mill will likely be replaced by additional Oak Hill students. That's not a bad swap. |

You're forgetting the AAP kids at Carson from Lees Corner, in addition to those from Navy and Waples Mill, and it's unlikely the future boundaries of Western, once set, will include all of Coates, Floris, McNair, Oak Hill, Fox Mill, and Crossfield. They will likely include all of Coates and McNair, but on the other hand it's unlikely both Fox Mill and Crossfield will end up there. It will be a perfectly fine school but down the road it's probably going to resemble Fairfax or Centreville in demographics more than Oakton or Chantilly. And that's OK, unless you decide it's not, in which case you'll have to deal with that if you're in the boundary. |

Plus, Oak Hill AAP will replace Waples and Navy AAP--of course, minus the TJ kids. Again, that is a pretty even swap. |

Demographics will be similar to Carson. Oak Hill will replace Crossfield if Crossfield is not in boundary. If Fox Mill is not in boundary Oak Hill will replace Fox Mill. So, demographics should be same as Carson--except for TJ kids. |

| Fox Mill AAP goes to Oak Hill. Fox Mill’s LLIV program is 4 years old and a cluster model with Advanced Math. Most of the kids in the regular class will move to Oak Hill for AAP. The Japanese Immersion kids are less likely to move. |

This is simply wrong. Lots of Carson AAP kids won’t be at either Western or TJ. |

The demographics will be just fine. Why do you want them not to be? Likely very similar to Chantilly. |

Look up thread. I specifically said the demographics will be “fine.” Based on my assessment of the demographics and likely feeders, however, I don’t think they’ll mirror either Carson or Chantilly once there are fixed boundaries. I think Western will look more like Centreville or Fairfax. |
