Yes. It's not moving. No need for it to move.

They can move the HS and keep the MS the same.

There is no need for any ES to move. Yet two of the four adjacent schools gotta go. All have pros and cons. All options on the table for filling those empty seats. There's nothing that makes PT magically more special than Lees Corner or Brookfield or Bull Run.

It would also be less than 1900 students, so it would probably pick up more than just the remainder of Bull Run and Cub Run from Centreville and Chantilly.

If they also add in Poplar Tree, that would get their school back up into reasonable numbers territory (@400 more kids) and reduce overcrowding at CHS.

Moving Oak Hill will deal with the overcrowding at Chantilly, thanks.

Well, they won't need to move Oak Hill if they are moving Poplar Tree out.

Floris and Oak Hill are the two schools pretty much guaranteed to move to KAA.

you can’t have floris without coates and mcnair. it would leave them as an island for westfield.

i think it’s floris coates mcnair and oak hill

Agree 100% you don’t create a Westfield island but there’s always the theoretical possibility you move Coates or McNair elsewhere (Coates to Herndon, McNair to South Lakes). However that leaves KAA super wealthy if is Floris, Oak Hill, Fox Mill, and Crossfield, with maybe a bit of Navy, so unlikely.

South Lakes refused McNair in 2008. The PTA didn't want them. That boundary study was based on nothing but socioeconomic issues.
They won't send Coates to Herndon --they might consider McNair, but I doubt it.

It will be:
Coates
McNair
Floris
Oak Hill
Crossfield--if they can squeeze it in.

If they do this, it will be a 40% FARMS school. They won't do it. It will be Coates or McNair, not both.

Devils advocate, but no one has a problem with Herndon or Westfield having 40% FARMs. Why should KAA be any different?

There will be huge pressure on fcps regarding the optics on demographics of this building simply because it is so so so much nicer than any other FCPS facility.

Do you think they will move the Floris neighborhoods zoned to SLHS?

It won't be 40. It will l8kely be under 30. Maybe we'll under 30.

That will be a no starter for fcps. I guarantee they have a target number in mind.

No way will it be less than 30%. They will want it in line with the other local schools. Creating a fancy school for rich kids is not their vibe.

Brookfield is also mostly at Rocky Run. They are not going to create a new split feeder at Rocky Run. Sorry, give it up.

So you think they will take Brookfield and Poplar Tree out of contention and move Lees Corner and Bull Run?
Anonymous
No one wants to say a school they think will be moved before the sale is finalized because they don't want the Poplar Tree or Brookfield or Lees Corner or Bull Run parents to realize the ripple effects before its a done deal.
Anonymous
there are already AAP kids who go from RR to WFHS so its already a split feeder

the obvious choice is to take a school or schools from Centreville.

Chantilly will likely be losing Oak Hill to KAA. So, Chantilly is no longer overcrowded.

Centreville will still be overcrowded, so it is logical to take a school(s) from Centreville. That way, the kids who live next to Centreville will no longer have to go to Fairfax.

This is just logic.

I don't know why PP keeps throwing in Chantilly schools. THRU has suggested some of those in the Wegmann's area for Westfield. That kind of makes sense.

You don't know the area at all. That development is zoned for Chantilly.

Westfield is *in Chantilly.* That is why people are suggesting Chantilly zoned ESes should be moved in. Because they literally border Westfield's boundary.

Your suggestion to replace Mcnair, Coates and Floris kids at Westfield is with...the handful of kids who live in the new development by Wegman's? If you don't know the area, you should not make dumb suggestions.

Westfield will have no less than 2650 students when this decision is made. The school is huge. Currently holds 2800 students with very few trailers and is not overcrowded.
If the county is smart they use this new HS to completely redraw their HS maps and fix overcrowding in any eastern schools at the same time.
