And please, please, do not schedule tournaments out of town in back to back weeks only to play our own 2nd, 3rd, or 4th team (who is in the same tier/bracket) in a semi or a final is something I kindly ask the coaches/org make an extra effort to avoid this season.

Good to know we got the 32 team club discount for our entry and hotel in Williamsburg this weekend.

At least on the girls side, I only saw one or two instances were two Valor teams were in the same division and for one age group it was the only division available. So there wasn't going to be another place to put them anyway. I'm not sure what the issue is with sending a bunch of teams to a tournament is unless you just don't like the travel part of travel soccer.

I think the issue is that some tournaments are more appropriate for NCSL Division 3 clubs and some tournaments are more appropriate for Division 1/ECNL-RL.

Why would you want to pay for a tournament, especially an away one, to play your own team? It's a waste of time and money.

It's why many clubs with 3+ teams don't all go to the same tournaments so this doesn't happen. Valor does it on purpose for best chances of social media bragging by going to smaller tournaments and playing at least half the teams way too low so they'll get medals.

Sure l don't know if you looked through the Williamsburg tournament but it looks like it's mostly 2nd teams and lower. Most second teams are in the top bracket. The age group with the teams in the same bracket (only bracket) are 2nd and third team grouped with a pre-ecnl. I'm sure there will be tons of social media bragging there.

Cannon cup is a good example of a lower tier tournament of division 3 teams.

There is a significant discount for putting a bunch of teams in and we all know how money grubbing Valor is.

For the club, sure. As paying customers? Not so much. I'd be pissed if this was the norm for my kid's team.

Exactly. They are turning a bigger profit by haggling for discounts on inappropriate tournaments but parents still pay full price. I'm amazed people pay the same price for the 5th team as they do for the 1st team.

Lets not forget having coaches who want to get paid but run it like a rec team. That is Valor in a nutshell. The program is back to CYA bad. All remnants of SYA are gone. PE allowed this to happen under his watch.

Do you think that it just got too big for PE to be able to manage it. Who oversees and hires the coaching staff?

I don't think he cares at this point. As long as people pay the bills. But the club has totally destroyed the boys side. CH ignores complaints and PE wont engage parents. They are pretty much easy wins to most clubs.

As a parent who never played soccer, I am trying to understand exactly what is going so wrong at Valor. Is it that the best coaches in the area choose to work elsewhere? Lack of a training curriculum and philosophy from the top that is supposed to be passed down to the coaches? Not a good talent pool compared to other areas? All of the above? When we take our child to camps/training run by other organizations they seem to run a much tighter ship. Why can’t Valor figure this out? Maybe they will get the message when multiple “top” teams implode and families leave due to being fed up.
