DA vs ECNL vs everything else

Yes, world view. You are probably the same person who says ECNL is better for girls.

The person was asking about competition. Obviously the ECNL teams are B teams and the DA teams are A teams. I openly called the PDA boys' ECNL team the B team, so I wasn't hiding anything. I just said it's still better than the competition around here. In fact, I would wager PDA's ECNL team could beat RU Boys' DA, but since that cross competition never happens, I mentioned about when RU's ECNL team played PDA's C team, because that actually did happen.

When you are playing a clubs B team as ECNL when that clubs A team is a DA team you cannot say that ECNL is an "alternative", implying that they are equal. BRYC ECNL is NOT equal to DC United, I mean BRYC is literally not even in the same league.

It is better framed to say that Boys ECNL is a alternative to CCL, NPL or EDP, but if given the choice it is NOT an alternative to BDA.

Many of the teams are the club's A team: BRYC, Penn Fusion, Albertson Fury, Maryland Utd.

BRYC ECNL team is in a conference with teams from NC/SC.

Not the boys' ECNL. Check their website. People need to actually know the boys' ECNL to talk about. That seems to be a recurring theme on this forum: people talking about leagues they haven't actually participated in.

I thought we are talking about 2018-2019, but seems you are talking about 17-18.

Don't forget Matchfit Academy, FC Bucks, FSA FC.

I'm pretty sure someone on this forum asked if their child didn't make it onto a DA team, what is the next league to look at. It's the ECNL. The ECNL is a better league than the CCL, which is (or at least was, now it's hard to say) a better league than the NPL.

No, this is the question that was asked:

"Is the boys ECNL a true alternative? Is is competitive like the BDA?"

This was the answer:

"Absolutely. BRYC is a strong club, and was always top of the CCL. You are also playing PDA's B team, which I guarantee is stronger than anything you are playing around here. Richmond Utd's ECNL team played PDA's C team and barely beat them with a late goal at the last minute, for a 1-0. Penn Fusion has no BDA, so you are playing their top team. I don't think Albertson Fury has a BDA, so it's their top team. Maryland Utd's top team is pretty decent too. Look at the competition. People are talking out of their mouths about the boys' ECNL because it supports their world view about boys and girls needing different platforms."

Is Boys ECNL really as competitive like BDA? Is PDA's B team really just the same as playing their A team?

If you had said WILL BE, I'd have picked up on it. I was talking about what currently is. That said, McLean only goes up to U12, Wilmington Hammerheads, Carolina Elite Soccer Academy, South Carolina United. They are ALL IN in the ECNL - for real, with no gender discrimination.

Exactly, is the competition a true alternative? I gave respect to PDA by mentioning even their B team, but across several conferences, it is their A team. Unless you are saying those clubs are good enough to have their A team on the girls side, but their A teams on the boys side aren't good enough. Hypocritical a bit?

For new season, they won't even play PDA in conference games.

You are right that I should use "will be". But people need information to make decision for new season, which teams are currently in same conference might not matter as much as which teams will be in same conference.

If you don't make a BDA team then it isn't an "alternative". An alternative implies a choice. If given the choice between playing on a team in either league NO Boys ECNL is not an alternative. The competition is NOT the same, the showcase opportunities are not comparable. Boys ECNL is nothing more than mostly re-badged NPL teams.

Honestly I hadn't noticed the conference change, so I was talking about what I knew was currently happening. But are you saying if they had stayed in the same conference, then that would have been competitive, or just arguing on semantics?

People are such hypocrites. Choose the platform based on how developed your daughter aspires to be: if she wants to maximize her potential and is a true soccer "nut", pick the DA. Same for boys. If you can't, try the ECNL.

If he or she loves soccer, but doesn't want to play club year round, play ECNL or another half year platform.

Appreciate your frankness.

I am not interested in arguing at all. I was just trying to give more information to the person who wants to know more about BRYC's Boy ECNL.

Do any of you have boys in the ECNL? Have any of you seen boys' ECNL teams? Do any of you think Wilmington Hammerheads is a weak club, or not good competition?

Yes, there's Girls DA Guy who is in charge of the info flow. Come on Girls Guy, not everyone spends their day reading all your blather and old posts.

That's fair. . I just don't understand why the same people who love the girls' ECNL turn their noses up at the boys' ECNL. Wt if your son really wants to play high school?
