You want to see racial tensions? Look at the thread about a black parent asking for the MCPS experience of a black child. That thread is explicit in its Asian hate. One poster even said go to DC because there is less Asians there, as the assumption is all Asians are racist. Another jokes about you can never tell them apart. Yet another talks about how Asians can’t speak proper English but will still look down on you. It goes on and on.

Part of the anger is the fact that white women, in particular, can get away with a lot of things at the expense of other women of color.

All of this anti H are all racists people talk has created tangible racial tensions in the community.

Call racism out when you see it.
But don’t call everyone a racist just because you don’t agree.
Don’t inflame racial tensions for your own agenda.

None of this is that hard.

They are calling the anti-H group racist and classist. Looking at their behavior at the fireside chat, or even if you just meet one of them, that would not be a far leap unfortunately. We just want their racism and classism to stop.

You completely missed the PP’s point. In fact you are proving it. You just called the entire anti-H group racist and classist. “Their racism and their classism”—as if the entire group is racist and classist.

Attributing the behavior of some to an entire group is stoking racial tensions. I’m sorry that is so hard for you to understand.

Look at “their” behavior at the chat. Whose? Be specific. Call out specific individuals for specific behaviors.

I’ll start: the classist white dude at the end. The deranged white dude with Costco carts of Asian kids.

Who else should we call out?

That’s 2 out of hundreds???

Darn it! Just when we thought the Karens and the trolls came to an understanding, another Karen just had to waltz right in and prove everything we have been saying about Karens to be true.

Karens just won’t learn…

Why use the name Karen? It’s a pejorative name for a white woman. Aren’t there equivalents in other racial groups? How do you know she isn’t one of those, or even mixed?

The ladies of Dufief are actually called Karen. There are a good number of them. And they aren’t insulted by any of you calling the ‘em Karens. Try harder with the insults.

Tis true: We have a disproportionate number of moms with the actual name Karen (in one grade there are four moms--out of 35 total--named Karen). We were ahead of the times.

This is why I think the “Karens” are being trolled so hard. They keep alluding to Whatsapp, Nextdoor, Facebook—platforms where you can easily identify the poster. So presumably the Karens can take it up with those individuals directly, or better yet expose them to everyone. But instead, they want to stoke racial tensions and then wonder why people are upset.

I’m sorry, no. The “karens” are being trolled so hard because it’s uncomfortable for people to look inward and take accountability when they cause harm. The people responsible for inflaming racial tensions are, in order:

1) the people making racist comments,
2) the people who are seeing the racist comments and doing nothing to call it out or remedy it because it’s coming from people they otherwise agree with, and then and only then
3) Karens who are calling out racism only if they are misrepresenting what is being said, who is saying it, etc.

It’s totally fair to call people out for #3 if you truly believe that to be the case, but if you do that without acknowledging the harm of #1 and examining your possible role in #2, then you’re not coming to the table prepared to solve the problem. You are just looking to share the blame.

The irony of this is wow.

“Karens are only at fault if they are misrepresenting what is being said and who said it.”

First, screaming racism at the top of your lungs without specifics as to what was said is a misrepresentation. Second, as the other PP notes, these Karens claim they have screenshots of WhatsApp, Facebook, Nextdoor. So they DO know who is saying it. TAKE IT UP WITH THEM. TELL US WHO THEY ARE? Intentional or not, by not doing so, you are in fact stoking racial tensions and making it sound like a larger group of people are responsible for the actions of specific individuals.

Regardless of where we stand on this issue, it sounds like everyone is agreeing we can all together call out specific individuals. So make it THOSE individuals’ problem. That would help a lot with the racial tensions. Be a real ally.

Before anyone says well we can’t call people out on an anonymous forum. Fine, call people out on those forums like WhatsApp, Facebook, Nextdoor the moment you see comments being made. Put them on blast!

👏 👏 👏 put them on blast and a) I promise I will be right there with you to blast them and b) I’ll stop trolling the Karens.

Please for the love of Wootton and all her feeders, tone down the racial tensions.

The only people deserving of call outs that I have seen so far all happen to be old white men, including an infamous one who has been doing this crap since before Wootton was been built. This dude has no skin in the game but has an opinion on everything.

And yes I’ve called this dude out personally many times, and way before boundary studies even started. He is very annoying. Him and his Costco carts of Asian kids. IYKYK. I do wish he would kindly STFU.

Who’s got the Costco carts of Asian kids. Please drop a hint before the trafficking accusations begin.

It really IS true that Dufief has a lot of moms with the actual name Karen. Not even a joke. They were probably all born around the same time (I see you SSA most popular name list of the late 80s). But, and don't let this disappoint you too much, they aren't all white. And yea, ALSO here for the drama and it does NOT disappoint!

If theres no valid reason for wootton to sue, then there wouldn't have been grounds for Wayside to sue either right? Option h seems to anger a lot more people than just Wayside from a future votes for boe or county counsil perspective.

Julie Yang went to bat for Churchill and got Wayside put back there, probably as a way of ensuring her vote down the line. Then she showed up to Wootton to tell us she also stuck her neck out for us. Maybe she did or maybe she didn't but even if she did, it wasn't enough since she had cashed in her chip for Wayside. What Wayside had going for them was they did this starting in October. Wootton didn't have the same chance for another set of options to change. Timing really is everything.

The same Julie Yang who made sure Cold Spring didn’t go to RM in the original draft of option H and negotiated Cold Spring instead to go to Churchill despite the overcapacity?

Cold Spring is also the only Wootton neighborhood that can vote for her in county council race.

This whole process is: Backroom deals only.

This is all no comparison to the Wootton situation. Much of Wayside uproar was due to location, look at the first round maps which were insane how they carved up Wootton and Churchill boundaries and there’d be a large area of Wootton surrounded like an island by Churchill neighborhoods. Remember the first round was bogus anyway, they simply were trying to show each of the four factors emphasized.

Also Wayside isn’t getting off free and clear, if the recommended H doesn’t get approved the alternative recommended will split Wayside and send about 1/4th of it and Potomac ES to current Wootton.

Compare the situation to Wootton which is really about financials and enrollment declines. Not to mention having a brand new school located closer to half of the Wootton cluster than the current building which is available to use keeping from having to operate another high school when enrollment doesn’t support it.

I believe Cold Spring being moved was to both eliminate concerns about Option H for them when geographically they had it the worst to Crown and possibly also because they think in a future elementary school study that parts of Churchill are moved to a Wootton (at Crown), QO, WJ or Whitman feeding ES.

Like Cold Spring is 2 miles to Churchill vs 6 miles to Crown. Whereas neighborhoods in Churchill include some of Wayside near Cavanaugh and Piney Meetinghouse are 6 miles to Churchill but only 3.4 miles to Crown, or some of Potomac ES near Piney Meetinghouse and Glen are 6 miles to Crown and QO but 4 to Churchill. Or parts of Seven Locks by Montgomery Mall are 3 miles to Churchill but 1.5 miles to WJ.
