Wizards and Caps could be moving to Potomac Yard

Today, the Mayor is hosting a pop-up event today at the Safeway on King Street from 11am - 1pm.

Anyone know what to expect? I’m guessing his staff will be passing out pro-complex pamphlets.

The website link shows they are doing other events and will be at PY on March 2.

Snowflakes. Didn't want to face the growing outrage at this deal.

Wow. Personally not surprised because no one wants this development, but at the same time to cancel with no explanation after all the hype — very surprising.

That's likely an interesting reading of the lease agreement.

Indeed it is. But the key part is the Mystics comment. Ted was clearly trying to pull a fast one on substituting the Caps/Wizards with the Mystics.

Yeah, he's a complete misogynist to trying to move the WNBA to a premiere location. Of course, there will be someone pointing out that Congress Heights has even better metro service than Capital One.

Don't be an idiot. The WNBA is a third tier sports league in North America. We may wish it wasn't but that's what it is.

And it always will be if they keep playing in third tier arenas.

Yes of course. The only thing preventing the WNBA from being on par with the NBA is the facility they play in.

Monumental knows how to dig a hole — for themselves, that is. What a disaster.

Was Wilson going to be there? Or was his water carrier Chapman going to be doing his work for him again?

Which means the city will have the option for the Mystics to play at CapitalOne or ESA. Either way, the city controls Capital One at that point in terms of doing something else with that site. That was the point of the Mayor's tweet.

Yep.

This isn't happening. You can smell it.
