It didn’t even look pretty was anywhere near any immigration enforcement. That agent approached him, and the other agents came running from across the street where I presume the actual immigration activity was being done. Do you remember that video of the ice agent slipping on ice running towards a photographer and then running back to his car? There was no enforcement activity there, they will just run up on people filming.

That’s what I thought. So he wasn’t impeding a law enforcement operation at all.

How about Renee Good? Was she coming between ICE and a particular immigrant? Did she prevent them from approaching that immigrant, showing their badge, and questioning them?

Or does ICE think they can just drive around town killing anyone who annoys them? I guess we already know the answer to that.

Under the circumstances, Pretti was interfering with a law enforcement operation by standing in the middle of the street and interfering with the officers' when dealing with agitators. We don't know what was said during the altercation. After he was pepper sprayed, he continued to resist. He should have, at that point, moved away from the situation, especially while carrying a firearm. Not saying he deserved to die, but there are risks you take when putting yourself in that situation.

I don’t understand what was happening before the shooting. Why was he in the middle of the road and how did he plan on helping a person surrounded by armed ice agents?

He stepped into help a woman who was shoved to the ground…. Watch the video. His back was to the agents as he was checking on her, then they attacked and killed him.

This. Two agents fired 10 rounds, half of which were fired after Pretti was face down on the ground, not moving.

As with Good's murder, there were numerous actions that are counter to normal law enforcement methods that put the victim, the officers, and bystanders at increased risk.

In Good's case, why was the officer repeatedly circling her vehicle? Officers are trained to approach vehicles from the side to prevent intentional or accidental harm. Why was the officer's gun in his hand? Officers are generally trained to only unholster their weapon in specific circumstances, which were not met in that scenario. Why was the officer attempting to film Good with one hand with his gun in his other? Especially in a situation with multiple officers on the scene, there was no good reason for this and likely increased the odds of an accidental or inappropriate weapons discharge.

In Pretti's case, why did the first officer pepper spray Pretti and the woman he was helping, when neither were engaged in a violent or provocative act necessitating that measure? Why was Pretti kicked and beaten even after he'd been immobilized by multiple officers? Who was the officer in charge in the scrum? Why was Pretti shot by an officer who had a clear view of Pretti's empty hands? Why was Pretti shot in the back while face down? Why did d the second officer start shooting when Pretti was clearly already injured, possibly dead, with hands visible and unarmed?

What had Pretti or Good done or said to indicate they posed a threat of violence to any of these officers?

Were any of the officers involved in either shooting given drug or alcohol testing after the shootings? Did any officer give a statement of their account of the shooting in the hours following? Were any eyewitnesses interviewed? Did DHS collect or review any of the video footage of these shootings? Is there any official record of investigation?

The fact that we don't have any answers to any of this is how you know these officers and thus agency is not operating in a law enforcement capacity. Because that's how law enforcement handles on the job shootings.

Exactly. Again, all of these actions alone don't justify lethal force. But the presence of a gun on the agitator during the scuffle changes things significantly. Moral of the story, leave the gun at home when attending tense protests.
