So our large NoVA club has already picked the teams for the 2016-17 season.
I don't know why they pull the charade of hosting tryouts. Bunch of fuckers that are making the decisions have never seen the kids play over the last two years...and, let me tell ya, the quality had gone down. The club is a complete shit show run by total incompetent morons. |
VYS? There's a thread for that, if so.... |
Nope. I'm not talking about Vienna. |
You are anonymous.....
Just say what club |
LOL, no, clubs have not picked teams for next season yet. What clubs are doing is looking at the birthdates and breaking the numbers down in regards to where kids will be moving so they have an idea of what numbers they will likely need going into tryouts. That is very different than picking teams. |
Arlington, then? |
Great thread with a ton of information. Just wanted to get some feedback. When is a good time to start looking at U9 Travel teams for the 2016/2017 season? From what I could find tryouts are typically at the end of the previous Spring season. Also curious in other travel teams in my area. I am in the Lorton/Springfield area. My son is currently enrolled in the PWSI Academy. It’s been great program with the only issue being the drive going south in rush hour. With the birth year changes he still falls in the U9 age group. Other clubs I am looking at or considering (in no particular order).
PWSI BRYC Lee Mount Vernon SYC FC United / FC South County Team America Other recommendations are welcome. Thanks |
Where is FC United and Team America out of? I thought FC United was down in Chesapeake |
PWSI and BRYC are your best choices.. As long as you're happy with PWSI, I'd stick with them. |
hmmm... we know several players that were already told their placement for next year at our club. Pretty strange given a club should no idea what kind of talent could show up at a tryout. |
BRYC is good, true--just wanted to chime in to say that the Lee Mount Vernon parents seem nice/normal, from what I've witnessed (in limited quantities, but still). |
Go with whichever is most convenient for you. I would think that is SYC. Your kid is 9. It really doesn't matter. |
For player development, it does matter. Go with a club that trains all the players together and has flexible rosters week to week vs a club that sets teams and that's it. I would recommend a CCL club vs a club that plays primarily in NCSL -- either BRYC or LVMSC. |
Good Catch. Its FCVirginia - http://www.fcvirginia.com/ The club in our area is FCV South County Team America is based out of the Fairfax Sportsplex in Virginia - http://www.teamamericafc.com/ |
Thanks for the feedback. I will admit I was one of the crazier parents when my son started playing. The PWSI coaches did a good job of shutting the parents down during training/games. I have since learned to enjoy from the sidelines, chit chat with other parents and make sure my son has fun. |
