Johnny Depp trial in Fairfax County

What does the "you won't look into my eyes again" mean? What did Johnny Depp mean?

He got mad at her or she was leaving him for good at some point, and he told her something like "You will never see my eyes again."
Give me a break. You don't live inside a romance novel. Grow up.

I totally believe that Depp's people and fans are vicious in how they are coming after this woman (troubled herself but no comparison to how vitriolic the anti-Heard sentiments are). They are both actors - no way to say she is acting and he is not - he looked totally cuckoo to me on stand. Cross today by his lawyer bringing up the previous arrest -- her partner years ago said that the arrest was totally off base and stood up for her ex, years after they had broken up.

"I (recall) hints of misogynistic attitudes toward us which later appeared to be homophobic when they found out we were domestic partners and not just 'friends,' " the statement said. "It's disheartening that Amber's integrity and story are being questioned yet again. Amber is a brilliant, honest and beautiful woman and I have the utmost respect for her. We shared 5 wonderful years together and remain close to this day.”

I remember the # of people that said Nicole Brown Simpson made up the abuse and that the photos were doctored. It is so heartbreaking to see that, even today, in order to believed, pictures don't matter. Telling people at the time doesn't matter. You need a video of someone smacking you and then to go out with no makeup on with huge bruises to be believed.

This Io testimony re how JD behaved on drugs is pretty damaging to JD.

Maybe he was simply that repulsed. She clearly was not, asking for a last embrace - doesn't sound like what an abuse victim would say to their alleged abuser.

He called his self on drugs a monster! He saw Heard as keeping him on a leash from taking all the drugs he wanted to. He thought AH was having affairs when she wasn't. Ugh.

Boy Depp derangement syndrome is strong. Ladies, he's not going to sleep with you.

You clearly don’t know a thing about good litigating. This cross is effective. Whatever you are hearing is your own delusions.

DP. A substantial part of what makes something a good cross examination is how the jurors perceive it (as well as creating a record for directed verdict and appeal). From that standpoint, how an untrained observer responds to a cross-examination is as significant, if not more, to an evaluation of the effectiveness of a cross as the opinion of a lawyer who can tel you how it compares to Mauet’s Trial Techniques.

DP. This can be said of everything at trial. A good lawyer thinks about how an "untrained observer" will perceive.

Exactly, which is why it’s dumb for the previous poster to try to insult a lay person by saying they don’t know good litigating. If it’s not resonating with lay people, then there’s reason to question whether it is, in fact, good litigating.

Are you saying that it's not resounding with lay people, though? That's not what I've seen from people commenting on the trial stream.

What I am saying is that pp’s opinion that it didn’t resonate with them should not be dismissed simply because they are not a trained litigator.

As for comments on the trial stream, I would not assume that the views of people invested enough in this to watch (and comment on) the trial stream are representative of the average juror.

Also, I haven't seen the physical evidence to establish the alleged injuries. If the jury doesn't find her believable and she doesn't have evidence, she certainly runs the risk of losing. Of course, we don't know what her next witnesses will say, but points have been scored on cross.

There are multiple photographs. There are contemporaneous statements - like the protective order affidavit. There are his apologies.

There are multiple photos showing no visible injuries when she said she had black eyes and a broken nose.

Also the testimony from the police officers, front desk clerk, and security guards stating that they saw no visible injury.

You mean the arresting officer who is a lesbian?

I don't recall anyone saying Nicole Brown Simpson's photos were doctored nor is anyone saying AH's are. I'm a DV survivor and find it difficult to believe AH's 'injuries' were from DV. There's no swelling (I can't believe she said getting hit in the nose/face doesn't result in much swelling - my experience is very different) and the contusions by her eye look like Botox.

IME, that table looks too clean to have been used for what AH says it was - and, as CV noted, there were the cigarette in the ashtray was unsmoked and there were no ashes in it. But, what really got me was that she said the tampon applicator was used to snort the coke! Now, I'm post-menopausal but aren't those applicators larger than a McDonald's straw? Would a tampon applicator even fit in your nostril? I don't think it would fit in mine and you'd need a power snort to use it. What are your thoughts?

As someone who has never done drugs, I would assume that coke leaves a residue on the table. Am I right?

DP who admittedly has not watched the trial. Do you guys not know how to clean tables? I don't know what you're talking about generally, but coke is a powder, I imagine some windex would clean it right up

I asked the drug question. The picture and coke I am talking about shows 4 lines of coke on a table along with a box, tampon application (the smaller tube), and mugs. AH said or implied that JD had already done a line or two of coke but in the picture you just see 4 lines and no residue from any snorted lines. To me it looks like a staged photo with no 5th line residue. So I was asking if there had been other coke lines, that were already snorted, wouldn't there be left over residue from the snorted line?

I'm the first PP. Yes, if you're snorting lines of coke or imbibing, there's no way the table would be as clean as it was. It looks to have been staged. The floor is dirtier than the table.

Who is this right now being shown from his deposition from March?

Can you explain what the significance of this is? (Asking as another person who's curious but not really following this trial.)

What I heard is that since she brought up "prior bad acts" she opened the door that JD's lawyer can ask her questions about her past. She put something on the table that if she were more strategic, she would have avoided saying.

Later (today) she said that she "had heard rumors" that JD pushed Kate Moss and it was something that was on her mind when she struck him to protect her sister-allegedly.

If a team of makeup artists helped her hide a broken nose, busted lip and black eyes, why aren't these artists going to testify? Just wondering.

I have never seen a table with lines of coke on it look so neat. It looks like someone got all set up but suddenly had to step away . . Or more likely, staged.

I agree. IO seemed to be pretty credible about the drug use by JD.
