That's a story you're telling, but show the post where it's actually shown. It's a feeling YOU get from it. I haven't seen that--and that's how you seem to be responding when anyone voices climate concerns. In this particular thread, nobody said anything like that -- they responded with their view on excessive flying when OP ASKED if they should move to Fl. not about what they spend on travel or whatnot. And if you're the PP you said "Climate nazis need to back off" (if you're not that PP, I apologize). SO it seems you're a little triggered by anyone mentioning climate concerns connected to spending. |
Right, because everybody knows West Virginia is just as much fun as Florida! That's why you all go there every year for your vacations, right? |
Definitely not the climate nazi back off person! I feel like a climate nazi every time I inwardly cringe reading posts in which people tout how frugal they are but spend lavishly on travel. i have done my share of traveling in the past, but feel that these days people really need to rationalize more before flying off to this place or that. With respect to Florida, OP is coming under fire, but I don't see the same fire being aimed at these frugal but tons of travel posters, who probably log in more flying hours a year than OP would going back and forth to Florida. |
We go to WV for lots of vacations. It's an awesome vacation spot for anyone that likes the outdoors. I wouldn't want to live there, but also wouldn't want to live in FL (or vacation there for that matter). |
I do agree that travel gets framed as a "virtue" sometimes even though air travel is massively impacting the environment. (Haven't seen people touting 2nd hand purchases + 50k travel though, maybe I'm not on here enough). I think the difference is that OP asked for our opinion so we're more willing to give it rather than inwardly cringe about how another's priorities are impacting our shared planet. |
The op needs to check with her accountant but the first year she would likely file a part year Maryland return. In future years, she would only be taxed on the days she actually works in MD so she would file a non-resident MD return. This assumes she successfully changes her domicile from MD to FL. I think the pp may have said they op would still have to pay MD taxes bc op said she would keep her house. Many factors go into determining domicile so op should check with her accountant. To the quoted pp, I would rely on your advisors and not dcum anonymous advice. |
| Absolutely, anyone who wants to go to Florida should go to Florida. Buh bye! |
OP is not low income. |
| We love TX (Austin) but property taxes are high |
Ruining the environment is you main one. Jet fuel and pollution from travel is disgusting |
| my bad habits stick to the OP |
| Yes and vote red |
Puh-leeze. |
This. Ew. Sure there are some relatively nice places. Those places will be adversely affected by weather events and climate change, though, in the upcoming years. And the politics down there is a shi-show. DeSantis, for example, is really harming the state and the people there. |
Actually, if you like nature, hiking, skiing, white water rafting, the outdoors and not roasting in bugs/humidity/algae blooms and dying manatees . . . WV is pretty great. Lots to do, esp. in the fall/winter. |
