Seriously what did he think was going to happen? Elizabeth had kids by that point and a sister. He wasn’t going to get another bite at the apple when his brother died. |
Or do something televised for the public. |
Yes, and to be sure and ask publicly and often how Meghan is feeling during her pregnancy and after her flight over from the U.S. |
I think the PP is talking about biographies written by royal 'reporters' who exaggerate a lot and make up even more. None of the biographies of Queen Victoria talked about just how 'close' her relationship was to her two male companions. They talked about how low-class the men where (literally) and how the courts couldn't stand them. But it was her personal letters (the ones her daughters didn't burn) that revealed just how much she was into these men. Same with Edward and other royals - the biographers infer. |
+100 Also they were living pretty separate lives since he stepped down with him primarily staying in another property (wood acre or something like that). I was surprised to see he died at Windsor. |
Some must be put in their place. |
You’re right. It was the interview that killed him. Not the fact that he was 99 years old. Someone alert Scotland Yard immediately! |
| He always stated he didn't want a big funeral. |
He tried to go back to Wood Farm and live separately again halfway through the 2020 pandemic - the palace courtiers said no because they couldn't have round-the-clock care bubbles for the two of them in two different locations. The palace staff living within the Queen and Prince Phillip are on 3-week rotations where they isolate entirely from their family and friends. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11706038/queen-servants-three-week-shifts-coronavirus/ |
Please. Harry has given no indication that he wants to reconcile with William. He seems completely done with him and barely mentions him at all. Meanwhile William just leaked some story about how he cut off some journalist he was friends with because the journalist was also friends with Harry. Their relationship is DOA. You know what they say “daughter for life, son until he has a wife.” |
| Can all the people b-tching about the interview/Meghan go over to the Meghan thread? |
The Duke of Edinburgh Foundation World Wildlife Fund Twenty books Over a thousand patronage’s and military services Noted ornithologist and industrialist Numerous world tours and appearances in support of British business and the Commonwealth Founder if several equestrian groups Worked until he was 97 years of age Not at all a lie about, much like his wife. |
For a senior member of the royal family, a big funeral is a 200,000 person funeral tableau with 2,000+ police deployed to contain crowds. He didn't want that. He did intend for all of his blood relatives, including the Greek ones he hasn't seen in years, to be able to attend. A small funeral in that regard would have been at the very minimum the 100+ relatives, immediate (including great-grandchildren) and distant. Here is Zara and Harry at their great-grandmother's funeral. Also foreign royals like the Kings and Queens of Sweden, Spain, and Norway.
