I competed for the Rhodes and the Marshall. The PP is correct. The number of students a University has has no bearing on the Rhodes competition. A school as small as 500 can recommend an applicant, so can a school of 40,000. The decision of whom to interview in person is made at the district level. The district committee evaluates all of the applications from schools within that district and selects those students whom they want to interview in person. This describes the process. https://www.shemmassianconsulting.com/blog/rhodes-scholar, In other words, the fact that UVA has more students has nothing to do with the fact that it is a huge producer of Rhodes Scholars, every single year (and Marshall, too). |
UVA supporters don't do math or logic. You are trying to say that since any school can potentially produce a Rhodes Scholar, it doesn't make any difference that UVA has many more students who may potentially become a Rhodes Scholar than a much smaller school with far fewer students. Really? |
