FEINSTEIN: Hun, it’s time for you to retire!

“I am announcing today I will not run for reelection in 2024 but intend to accomplish as much for California as I can through the end of next year when my term ends,” Feinstein, 89, said in the statement.

Later on Tuesday, reporters at the Capitol asked her about the announcement.

“I haven’t made that decision,” she said, according to Savannah Behrman of the National Journal. “I haven’t released anything.”

A Feinstein staffer then told her, “We put out the statement.”

“You put out the statement?” the senator replied, seemingly surprised.

That can be interpreted in two ways; either she’s so out of it she forgot they’d released it or other people are taking matters into their own hands and telling her she’s done. It’s not totally clear.

It does seem like they pushed her. Like 2 weeks ago they agreed it would be Feb 14 and they just did not remind her because she would have fought it. She seems to know about the statement just not that it was released.

True. Either way is bad though. What is clear is that she should have retired way before now.

Sure. But it’s not like she’s alone in the “no longer fit for public office” category.

Guessing she’ll reconsider. Those salivating for her seat must wait.

I voted for her, but it’s time for someone younger to step in. However, she’s far from the only one who’s past her prime.

What is the process in CA if she doesn't make it back? Gov. Appt to finish out the term?

Gosh, what a difference just a few years makes at that age. She looks nothing like my mental image of “Diane Feinstein.”

Yes, same as when the VP resigned.

+1. But she is 90. This last term of hers was a travesty.

Imagine being peers with young whipper-snappers like Chuck Grassley and Mitch McConnell.

Shingles.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., is receiving treatment for shingles in a California hospital, Fox News Digital has confirmed.

"I was diagnosed over the February recess with a case of shingles. I have been hospitalized and am receiving treatment in San Francisco." Feinstein's office shared. "I hope to return to the Senate later this month."

So I think that a) Feinstein should not have run again and b) that she should have retired by now and c) I’m OK with Fetterman. BUT, I also think it’s interesting that all of this consternation about Feinstein hit just as Fetterman is about to return.

At least take her off the Judiciary Committee, FFS.

I predict she resigns by the end of April. They need the Judiciary Committee to function and to confirm judges.

This story is all over Twitter today. I feel like it's a shot across the bow at her staff. And it's only going to get worse.

Ro Khanna has called upon Feinstein to retire.

This may have been asked but the shingles vaccine has been available for 20 years and a second, more effective shingles vaccine, for ten years. Why didn't she get at least one of them?

To everyone else, please get the two-shot shingles vaccine
