NP. Actually those 14,004 cases are the ones they know of. I have read in an article that the actual cases may be more than 20 times that. So 4.8/20 would give a mortality rate of 0.24%

That seems very speculative to me. If 20 times the number of people have had it, that’s 280,000. MoCo population is about 1 million. Do you really think over 1/4 of everyone has had it? No antibody testing anywhere has shown numbers anything like that.

It may seem surprising at first sight, but it is probably true. If you look at Johns Hopkins link PP has provided, there are a number of countries with case fatality rates below 0.5%. True fatality rate needs to be lower than that.

This has an overview of what we currently know about the IFR. The most plausible estimates are around 0.5-1%. That is across all ages; the IFR for the working age population is going to be quite a bit lower than that, except maybe for those with severe underlying conditions.

Well lucky for you that age group:

1. Is by and large not effected.
2. They can't seem to trace one single infection back to a kid giving it to an adult.

But go ahead-refuse to go back to work because the kids won't wear masks. Hopefully they replace you with someone who cares about educating the kids.

NP here. Even in the NYC metro area the estimated percentage of infection is around 20%. There is no way MoCo has a 25% infection rate.

WOW! Where did you see I said I did not want to go back to work? I’m incredibly concerned about my students. Distance learning is not adequate for them. But, yes, I am able to be concerned about my health. You have some significant issues!!

I'm planning on returning to teaching this fall no matter what form it takes. I do not believe we'll be provided with any PPE and plan to provide my own. I also doubt the kids will have soap or TP in the bathrooms, cause there never has been any for the past 10 years or so. I bring my own soap and TP in my purse for my own use. I also doubt there'll be any additional cleaning. That's life.

You are the one who specifically mentioned you were scared because you work with 3-5 years olds who want keep their masks on. How does that have anything to do with your PPE? Honestly you sound like you are going to have a problem with any solution so go ahead and let someone with some common sense and work ethic have your job so you can stay home and continue to be irrationally afraid.
