Frist line of the article: Though the number of new deaths has been curving downward, the virus continues to circulate widely within the United States. As states move to partly reopen their economies, thousands of new cases are still being identified each day and true normalcy remains a distant vision. |
Ah yes, a Trumpster. |
Ok, and ... ? I said to LOOK at the map. You can clearly see where the problem areas are. Do you really never think for yourself? |
Nope they don’t. |
| Ok, back to my question. Does anyone know when Elrich is supposed to make another announcement about his plans? |
The only thing I can divine from his announcement a couple days ago is that he’s waiting for 14 days to pass since we started Phase 1. So that would theoretically mean a Phase 2 announcement some time next week. Of course he’s been 10000% vague about what Phase 2 would mean. |
Particularly since we are not even fully phase 1. FFS even NYC is reopening. |
| Thank you. Did I misinterpret that he was figuring out new criteria to determine when to move to Phase 2? |
No I wait for you to tell me what the facts are! |
Yeah, seems like it? Which makes zero sense, since he and Gayles made that huge deal about their dashboard. The cynical part of me thinks they want new criteria because the dashboard is essentially maxed out; it’s showing about as positive numbers as it can. I follow Elrich on Twitter and lots of people keep asking him to specify what the criteria for Phase 2 are, but of course he never does. |
PP here. He also said he was going to look at MD’s Phase 2 and see if anything can be incorporated but I haven’t heard anything on that either. The lack of information is driving me crazy. I thought he would stay in sync with PG County and I could track them to determine what’s going on because the communication is better in that county, but that’s not working because he isn’t following them (or anyone from what I can tell). |
We need to keep the pressure on. I’m not on twitter but just emailed him. |

MoCo numbers update!
We added 150 cases today, bringing our 7 day average down to 176.7. We added 8 deaths, keeping our 7 day average steady at 6.3. Our positivity rate went down to 9.6, below the CDC’s benchmark for a Phase 3 reopening (the benchmark is 10%). |
Is it enough to at least move to a full phase 1? What are the criteria for phase 2? |
Elrich hasn’t said what the criteria for Phase 2 are. It *should* be enough for a full phase 1, but he hasn’t done it. He hasn’t even opened playgrounds, which was a pre-Phase 1 action at the state level. |
