My husband was. He was with his mother. |
They had apparently hooked up together in high school. |
Well this husband was burying his own wife in the woods somewhere... |

Uh oh case closed - they found signs of forced entry on her bedroom door and a bullet casing on the floor.
Undersheriff Andy Rohrich told the court that Suzanne's purse also contained large quantities of cash and her driver license and credit cards. He also said a .22 caliber unspent round was found next to Suzanne's bed in the master bedroom of the Morphew home, while cracks were found in the doorframe. Rohrich said in his experience, the cracks were consistent with a forced entry. He said he had spoken to the previous owner of the property who told him the cracks were not there when he sold the Morphews the home. |

Update on the case -
The affidavit accuses Barry Morphew of taking “steps to control her, incapacitate her, stage a crime scene and create his alibi for her disappearance.” By May 9, the document continues, “it had become clear that Barry could not control Suzanne’s insistence on leaving him, and he resorted to something he has done his entire life — hunt and control Suzanne like he had hunted and controlled animals.” https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/colorado-man-hunted-down-wife-alleged-murder-plot-authorities-say-n1279686 |

The husband is free. He posted a $50,000 bond. He also sold his business and personal home for $3 million. Prosecution is worried he'll use the funds to run.
His trial is scheduled for May 2022. They also confirmed Susan financed a lot of her lifestyle with an inheritance totaling $425,000 in 2013 and 2017. |
Presumably they would take his passport. |
Yes, that's in the conditions but hasn't stopped fleeing murderers before. The judge set the bond at $500,000 and Morphew must surrender his passport and cannot travel or reside outside of Chaffee County. He has been ordered to wear an ankle monitor. https://www.koaa.com/news/crime/morphew-affidavit-released |

I don't understand this latest news. They dropped the caae against him ... because they wanted to find the body before the trial but there's not enough time?
Is this some kind of strategy? |
Maybe they can’t delay the trial but don’t want to argue the case without a full investigation of evidence and a proper autopsy? If they go to trial and lose because of a lack of evidence they can’t re-try him because of double jeopardy. The body isn’t going anywhere , they can refile in 2023. |
I wonder why they think they’d ever find the body. And if they do would the remains really be informative of the cause of death? |
They found it. Apparently it’s under five feet of snow and ice in a rural mountainous area of Colorado that’s hard to get to? |
