It's here, it's spreading, and what are we doing? Supposed to be doing?

This just highlights again how third world the USis in so many ways. Other developed countries have aggressive testing and response sand it's still not enough.

Unless you are talking about Singapore and South Korea, this is totally false.

The European countries have been just as sluggish, if not more so, than the US. If you go on forums that are more international you will see huge complaints from European nationals about how bad their countries' responses have been and how cavalier their governments have been.

Italy, which isn’t really a model of government efficiency, has tested over 10000, far and away higher than the USA.

Right, only once a raging epidemic already was well underway.

Italy now is considering rationing intensive care to only those elderly most likely to survive:

ROME - The situation surrounding the coronavirus has become so extreme in Italy that an Italian association of anesthesia, analgesia, resuscitation and intensive care is proposing an age limit for people to be admitted to intensive care . Moreover, people who are more likely to survive should be given priority.

No, Bowser confirmed in her press conference yesterday the man in his 50s is a DC resident who had no known contact with someone with corona and neither did he travel internationally so stop spreading false rumors.

I think you misread and PP is talking about the person who visited the church, not the DC resident who has the virus.

Where is it confirmed who is who? Which one visited the Church? A tourist or the citizen? It wasn’t clear to me from reports or the press conference. And I’m not taking PP’s post as authority who claims many Italians belong to an Episcopalian church.

I wish someone was tracking all these on a wiki page. Normally I'd say the authorities should be left to do their jobs but I have trouble trusting their process... (DCist and WaPo seem to have the most information at this point.)

https://coronavirus.1point3acres.com/en
is tracking all US cases.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
is tracking worldwide cases.

Both have links to sources.

My take from the poorly-reported information are that the DC resident, also hospitalized in DC, is the Christ Church person.

(And, no, Christ Church is not notably Italian.)

There are many confirmed cases that are not included on these. The numbers in the US are much higher.

There’s a thread in jobs and careers about OPM’s recent guidance on how this will affect the federal workforce in case anyone is interested.

Question: my doctor was going to have me tested for coronavirus but after the news conference not so much. Should I send my kids to school tomorrow? They are in second and fifth.

You think you may be infected? No, don’t send your kids to school.

If you’re suspected of having it I would self isolate you and your family.

Why would your dr want to test you? What would be the risk factors? Otherwise I call troll.
